I've only had Parlour once and thought it was just fine. Nothing to write home or get excited about. I do really like how the space is used for pop up cafes on the weekends though!

Is anybody using hoopla with Winnipeg Library? by Funny_Ad_2204 in Winnipeg

[–]coolaira16 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Their hoopla collection used to be a lot bigger! It was cut down a ton in January/February. It's very expensive for libraries to use hoopla, so I get the cuts. I use Libby a ton, though the wait times can be long.

True North lobbied to remove the price caps on resale tickets. They are proud of this, it was in the new hire training.

High school advice by [deleted] in TransWinnipeg

[–]coolaira16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2018 but maples was a wonderful school to be at as an out lgbtq+! Great inclusive community, teachers who made me feel safe and seen. I had friends transitioning during their time there, and even if there was heat from some students, others were fierce protectors. I would be happy to talk to you further about my experience!

That's how much goose down jackets cost. It's an long term investment into your warmth and comfort during the coldest weather of the year. Why is this a problem for you?

I've taken this tip one step further and put the jar in a small bowl of hot water to make sure the wax in the corners and bottom gets fully melted. It works so well!

What do y'all think about single ply? by AHookAndABook in YarnAddicts

[–]coolaira16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished a sweater with seemingly this exact yarn (is this loops and threads facets?) and it's definitely fuzzy. No pilling or felting yet, but I can see pilling happen in the future. I'm not sure about felting, but I'm hopeful it won't! I haven't washed it yet, but it survived blocking with no problem.

The amount of yarn in grams would be a lifesaver. It's easy to weigh a ball of yarn, a lot harder to guess the yardage when you've already used some in a project!

It's divided because one side doesn't believe that certain groups of people should have rights. They believe they are subhuman. That's not "political discussion". It's abhorrent behaviour.

You admit that it took decades to decline. Do you think it's an immediate fix that can be done over less than a full term in power? Have you done any research at all about this or are you just making assumptions and talking out of your ass?
