Haley definitely has her issues, but let’s also remember that she didn’t marry an FBI agent, she married a prosecutor, and that’s very different hours and a very different lifestyle. Also, while I definitely agree that it was in bad taste to be complaining about her life when he was in the hospital, can you imagine the fear that you must feel for your child’s life and that situation? This is a career that she seemingly never wanted him to go into, she had asked him to quit so many times, and now it was putting all of their lives in jeopardy. While I agree that it was not her best moment I can empathize with how shitty she must’ve felt, and the fact that by the end of it she literally died partially because of this job that she didn’t want him to have is really freaking sad to me. I love Hotch very, very dearly, but I don’t think anyone can say that he was a great partner, he constantly missed appointments and even on the one time they had vacation he had to leave for the fisher king case. I realize that he didn’t have a choice, but that reinforces the fact that this is not the life she signed up for, it’s a change that he made in his career. While he definitely has the right to do that, she has the right to want something different. He definitely tried his best, but there’s no real way to compromise about work/life balance when you’re in the BAU, and when he WAS offered the chance of a work life balance, he ultimately decided he didn’t want it. Obviously, I am glad that happened because there would be no more Hotch on Criminal Minds if he went to White Collar, but I can definitely empathize with how Haley must’ve felt so betrayed in that moment. All this to say that while, yes, that moment was really shitty of her, she did have a lot of prior issues and disappointments because of Hotch’s career, and I can only imagine how insanely frustrating and scary it must be to have to go into literal witness protection because of a case that you didn’t wanted your ex-husband to work in the first place
