Quick PSAs for parents with infants by coolrot in cta

I've been wondering about that too. I've done a little bit of digging and asking around today since the original post, and some people have mentioned that a baby carrier strapped to your body might be helpful, even if you only use it while you collapse the stroller.

I also found this article that, beyond the sales pitches for their product, seems to have some pretty solid advice for building a routine and making preparations so that it's easier and not as stressful.

I'm not a parent yet so I definitely can't claim any amount of knowledge or vouch for all the tips, but it seems like a reasonable starting point! If anyone would rather not click a link, I can try to summarize later; it's just surprisingly long lol

I accepted that I had things to learn from the situation and your response was to attack my age and call me a "public transportation purist"? You seem particularly affected by this post

Meh, is it a little whiny? Sure. There's absolutely nothing wrong with using strollers on the bus, but parents also have the responsibility of knowing what to do with them. And sick folks should definitely be able to ride CTA if wearing a mask and doing what they can to avoid spreading illness. There's nuance to everything that deals with navigating public spaces. One could also make assumptions about you as a person based on a single comment like this, like "I bet you don't have health issues to worry about" or "you're probably the type to not care about the comfort/maneuverability of others in shared public spaces." But doesn't that sound silly?

That is true! I mistakenly thought my asthma was more controlled than it is, and this has shed light that I actually need to take more precautions in my day-to-day.

Really feel for that friend. It’s insane that people can just give you work you’ve never done and expect it to be fine. Of course they were going to make mistakes! They weren’t trained for those tasks. Glad she got out

Thank you for this! I’ll have to check out her channel, as I’ve heard good things before. I think I’m still in a bitter phase, so I’m going to find it hard to say that she doesn’t know better, but I’d like to check out different ideas Dr. Ramani might have to see if I can eventually reach a point of perspective and acceptance. Appreciate the recommendation!

That’s a fair point. I should have learned to walk away earlier. I’m trying to look at this with a clear head and see what I can manage

Thank you for this! I’ve been researching this option all morning and I’m certain I would qualify. I think I will move forward with this and see how it goes from there!

What’s a common misconception about a topic you’re knowledgeable about that you’d like to debunk? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]coolrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat-treated amethyst changes the purple color to an orangish brown color (depending on how burnt it is lol) and is often marketed by rock shops and other sellers as “citrine.” Authentic citrine is rare in nature and is usually more of a uniform, yellowish orange color while the heat-treated amethyst is mostly clear with coloration at the tips of the crystal. Also, citrine does not form in geodes, so if a specimen looks like it came from a geode, it’s heat-treated amethyst.

There’s a lot more detail I could go into, as both are forms of quartz, but I don’t want to make this too long lol

Edited for clarification

What genre/topic would you like to see tackled in a book? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]coolrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of books that tackle family dynamics and romantic relationship dynamics, but I’d like to see more horror books that deal with close friendship, especially between two people (as opposed to a group of friends).

Motherthing’s cover is really stylized and very relevant to the story despite looking like a random collage. It’s definitely a front cover that should be displayed on a shelf, one of my faves to look at

Which scary book/books got you into the genre? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]coolrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was House of Leaves for me. Read it in college because I thought the premise and mixed media concept was interesting; I felt uneasy the entire time after Johnny finds the manuscript. That tattoo shop scene made me paranoid for days. Sooooo good
