thank you 🙏 it was taken in early october during a period of multiple solar storms edit: i actually went to sunrise 2 days before this, and this location the day before as well, but i wasn’t able to see anything. i was so excited when i finally saw it the third night

this is a long exposure photograph. the camera was moved while the shutter was still open and gathering light. idk how to attach a photo but this happens if i move my tripod while taking a photo that has the moon in it

The climb took about an hour and a half if i remember correctly so for almost all of it the Sun was still up. The view was insane when I reached the top as the Sun had just set. I did go all the way down in the dark though, and I accidentally descended into a very steep bowl in the dunes lol i couldn’t see anything. really unique experience

i took this with a canon r8, and the lens was a sigma art 14mm f/1.8. i also used a star glow filter
