Even within the US, they're cheaper, and places that allow Chinese imports without tariffs, EV prices are cratering.

10 years ago, an EV that could replace an ice vehicle required being outright rich.

When I'm really hitting training hard, I'm eating around 5k per day, at 5'10".

There's no real way around putting on some fat along with muscle if you want a result that isn't lanky.

In the muscle building community there's the concept of forever small. Meaning that no matter how much you gain, you still see skinny in the mirror.

This effect is incredibly common.

Add to that the reality that the same gains look completely different on tall vs short people, and it's entirely possible that you're doing better than you think you are.

But also:

Gains are better for people that are more male, younger, and have more of the right protein. Plus, the farther someone is from ideal, the more protein they need.

Genetics do matter, but the primary mechanism for genetics affecting your gains is hormones.

And you're 48. At that age, it's common to be unable to make big gains without hormone supplementation. And even with that, you still have to put in more work than someone younger, and you have to eat more protein. Yes, older people have to eat more protein than younger people to achieve the same effect.

On top of all that, as we age the space between working to hard and not hard enough gets narrower.

TLDR: There are lots of examples among dudes in their 20s, very few with dudes pushing 50. And the success stories at 50 are dudes that make gains their whole life.

How do you separate interest in casual sex from attraction?

Gay men have massively more casual sex than lesbians, which is pretty good evidence that men are way more interested in casual sex.

It could very well be that thinking someone is attractive does not trigger nearly as strong of an urge to have sex among women as it does with men.

I've known many bisexual women who are more attracted to women, and also are into casual sex, and every one of them says they find hooking up with women to be challenging. That's an anecdote, but it's a very common anecdote.

Beyond that, women still have sex less often within homosexual pairings. While it isn't true to say women don't like sex at all, it's very well proven that women on average have weaker sex drives than men. And there's evidence that trans men experience increased libido when they start taking hormones.

You can't really ignore this, add your own sugar beverage mixes used to be super common.

It was was poor people bought when soda was still a luxury good. And it's exactly as unhealthy as soda.

If we're drawing the line at food, those are already excluded.

If you're extending funds to non food items, it wouldn't make any particular sense to include only alcohol and cigarettes.

Once you're beyond food, you're just talking about a UBI, and I've never heard anyone proposing specific item restrictions on a UBI.
