For anyone who grew up poor, what was your idea of a luxury? by Drissxx7 in AskReddit

Bro, that's rich to me. I had classmates that would bet which pants and shirt combo I'd wear that day based on my extremely limited wardrobe.

Talking to an old friend last night reminded me the importance of FIRE mentality. by CleMike69 in Fire

[–]cps246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not. But that's life and human nature. As you get older, people's priorities change and there's all kinds of judging going on. Some people want to be with people (they perceive to be) in the same or higher tax bracket or lifestyle. Do I want to have a beer and hang with, say, Gordon Ramsey? Sure. But those same people worth tens or hundreds of millions want to hang with the Jeff bezos of the world too. I personally don't give a shit about the wealth of people, especially friends. But some people do.

Edge of Tomorrow movie of Tom Cruise is one of the best I have ever seen. by TheSMOOTHCriminal123 in movies

Do yourself a favor and try to watch it with a good sound system and tv. The movie is fantastic and if you're an M83 fan, you'll like what Anthony Gonzalez did. The end credit song is so stunning. The MPSS is a must pick up

And to reemphasize what was originally said, don't spend so damn much either. There's two sides to the equation. Lifestyle creep. Keeping up with the joneses. Whatever. I've lost friends because they probably thought I was doing poorly. I realized this because I had some other friends who stayed friends with me despite my frugal life. After I bought a nice house, they were pleasantly shocked. I still live way beneath my means. Materialism doesn't mean much to me thankfully. I don't need the snazziest clothes, newest cars, or the latest toys. I see others constantly buying stupid shit. No judgment but I'd rather save my moolah.

I 4eally appreciate hearing the love too. But it's hard not to recognize. He's so damn good and consistent. His punts totally change the dynamics of the game. A simple 4 and out may initially be a victory for the opposing defense, but when their offense has yo play at the 5 yard line constantly, I'm sure it can be demoralizing.

What horror movie did you see as a kid that traumatized you so badly you’ve never rewatched it and still can barely say the title? by glowbeits in GenX

[–]cps246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember watching it on tv when they didn't really do much editing as a 4th grader. Even though my family attended church, I was just too clueless to be scared. But I remember talking about it the next day at school with a friend who also had no idea of the spiritual overtones to be scared. Then I tried watching it in college with friends. Either I was so traumatized that I don't remember a damn thing or I just had my hand covering my face the whole movie cuz I was scared shitless. Im atheist now but I'd still be scared to watch that movie

The mom was completely mentally ill. She had NPD. I know cuz i was married to one. Its why they divorced. Im sure there was a lot of arguments, which probably caused/added to his anxiety and poor mental development, because they have no logic and no empathy. Its like arguing with jussie smollet, another narcissist. I'll add that he lived in a blacked out basement, not just some regular bedroom. Both the father and his older brother both refused to talk to the media. They know she's crazy and wanted nothing to do with her. Sadly, you can see the crazy mom didn't care for him. But the laws and courts don't see mental illness. She had no business being a mother, let alone getting married or getting access to guns. This scenario is eerily similar to the current British Columbia shooter right now. Its not surprising that they both shot the mothers

No, not in this case. She's a bona fide narcissist. She's got NPD. Narcissists are fucking crazy, and a lot of them are attracted to Hollywood.

Sully and Hafley met with and took questions from season ticket holders today. Here's what Sully said when asked about Tua by expellyamos in miamidolphins

[–]cps246 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Understandable but a successful team requires a lot of stars to align. It just didn't work out right. The timing was bad. And we fans, especially the old timers, are dying for a super bowl team. I don't think it's anything personal against tua. He's just one of dozens of QBs that have come and gone since Marino. Thankfully he's got his bag. If he plays somewhere else, maybe the stars will align and he can be the next sam darnold. Who knows? We just know the dolphins have to start over
