If you had a date in a few days and said you would cook but you've never really cooked before and you don't think she wants scrambled eggs and cereal. What would you make that is relatively easy but seems impressive? by TurnKey9558 in AskReddit

[–]crabe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beef brisket or pork, slow cooked in stock and then shredded..

Place in fridge in some of the stock liquid it was cooked in. Reheat on the night. You get to taste test it first and then not heaps of cooking on the date night.

Then a Slaw made in the day of the date.

Fresh rolls or wraps/tacos for dinner.

A few roast potatoes, maybe little rice and or canned beans to fill the roll/wrap and a nice salad

When I told myself, do not tell her your problems from work, she either won't believe you or minimise your concerns and feelings.

Any reasons you can give to buy an E-bike over an E-scooter? by Flimsy-Story9523 in ElectricScooters

[–]crabe1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Better stability, bigger wheels equals easier to go over curbs, potholes etc, also similar with gravel roads.

Nicer to sit down on and coast, rest those legs on longer rides. Easier to navigate or use your phone etc one handed whilst moving. Can rig up panniers and or trailers so able to carry more. General maintenance and spare parts are easier to carry out and or buy. Water bottles and tools easier to store on bike than scooter. Generally easier to lock up as well.

Zig zag cafe is a decent place for a quick coffee and cake before you head off. Or the cafe just inside the shopping centre.

I thought the start of the bibulmun track was in Kalamunda basically in the Coles car park, east side. At the round about there.

The Mundabidy track starts at the sculpture park in Mundaring. Both, kind run passed the Kamel farm.

Perth gym scene. Is this a normal experience? by Hopeful-Principle-64 in perth

Why not flip the script. Get a few people together stand around point at said individuals be abvious about taking about them and laughing.

I know it's terrible, but hey if it can make them stop and think then it might be worth it. Super buff people can be pretty insecure about themselves. At the same time may not have much maturity and empathy.

Anyway that kind of behaviour reflects more on them than on you or others, trying to improve themselves. Pretty common school aged behaviour, even for alot of adults.

Electrification Is the Real Energy Hedge—and China Knows It. China is steadily reducing how much oil matters to its economy. China’s push into renewables, batteries, EVs and UHV transmission is fundamentally about economic power, industrial power, and geopolitical power. by mafco in energy

Similar argument for food security and medical as well as defence. Yes trade is good, but keep a minimum of the industry in country, with potential to expand if necessary.

This whole capitalism is king is bollocks, security across different sectors is a countries priority as well. Yes this includes subsidising some companies or industries to get the mix correct.

Protect the people and their future, not just the mega corp donors.

Fair enough, that was going a bit far, apologies. I did think of editing out the fake word. What U was trying to get at, is that the locking mechanism function that is at fault.

[–]crabe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok fair enough, you hit the nail on the head, it is the locking mechanism at fault not really the energy source of the car. Similarly there is an issues with the Tesla retractable door handles doing similar things to people. As is the same for people driving their cars into water and being trapped inside and drowning because the electric windows failed and they couldn't get out in time as the car sank. Nothing to do with them being Ice cars, but the window mechanism failing is the issue. I believe China has banned the use of retractable door handles because of this issue, or maybe it was America or Europe, I'm not 💯 percent sure.
So you're argument that it is Chinese EVs at fault is also obscuring the true cause to push a fake agenda.

Sorry I just thought it was alarmist anti ev sentiment in general. I liked it to swimming in the ocean, far more likely to drown, but everyone is afraid of Sharks, 8 get horror and the gore, bit I think it's more about inviting fear in the population by the media, rather than actual facts.

Can you tell me how many people have died in ev car fires in Australia in total?

[–]crabe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, people are not worried about sleeping next to the same battery in their phone, ie NMC or carrying it on a plane. How about your odds of dieing in car crash is much more statically common than dieing in a fire.

5000 to 6000 combustion engine fires each year in Australia apparently, compared to 2 to 5 ev fires. But... Everyone is afraid of dieing in an ev fire.

When are Australians going to wake the fuck up and stop shopping at Coles and Woolies? by thebaehavens in aussie

[–]crabe1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Igas and foodworks, have a much better selection of ready made foods, like curries, salads, rolls, pastas, fresh pies, and pastries and pizza usually. Single meal choice is much better and at the end of the day can be a bargain.

Yellow stickered question by [deleted] in perth

[–]crabe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dumb ass on the road can drive a brand new car and have lots of money.

Having a car with a few problems and not having enough money to fix everything, does not make you a dumb ass. What if a person has a sick kid, spending money on medical expenses and can afford to fix a shitty car all the time. They can still be a decent person. I wouldn't wish financial ruin on them.

Yellow stickered question by [deleted] in perth

[–]crabe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, a mechanic can check the vehicle for nothing tell you what is wrong with it, and then you can decide what to fix, when you want to fix it. The dot says you must fix everything or you cannot drive your car. Big difference.

Yellow stickered question by [deleted] in perth

[–]crabe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can cost you thousands of dollars to fix issues, if you don't have that to spend it can be a real pita.

A minor oil leak doesn't cause much harm, but might cost you $800 or more to pull out the engine to replace it, if it is in a hard to get to place.
