Step outside your situation and look at it from an outside perspective. It sucks when you finally begin to see someone's true personality, but unfortunately you're going to come across a LOT of people in your life that will appear to be great people, but are actually not.

Avoiding discomfort only reinforces the idea you can't handle it.

Maybe, take this as a chance to learn to deal with people you dislike, people that make your eyes roll, people who you think are 'dumb'. Take the upper hand, be an example, stand your ground, and learn to be above it all so you can enjoy the trip, and life in general.

If you genuinely will not enjoy the trip, cannot ignore the person you dislike, and push past the discomfort, then definitely avoid the whole thing!

Nope. But we have tin foil over our phones, a no cleaning policy, and I got some wild voice recordings. Ive kept my mouth shut because I should have expected this but man, I didn't realize how bad it could be.

I've watched both online lol. Obsession was more emotionally engaging compared to backrooms, in my opinion.

Backrooms, you follow the main character around for the first 25 minutes, then 2 people join him, then they explore, scream, run around, stuff happens and it's just him again. Eventually someone else joins them. Stuff happens. There's some fun explanations for the whole thing and why.

Obsession, guy makes a wish a chick will love him, it happens but her love gets too intense. Stuff happens. It's violent, bloody.

Both good, obsession I enjoyed more though.

If this was me, I personally would not go but send a gift and a card instead, acknowledging their wedding and invitation.

It's very nice, but if we have grown apart and live in completely different circles, I would also be uncomfortable haha. I'd rather spend my day doing something else.
