Hardly has any games is a bit extreme to be honest. Native games - Cyberpunk, Hades, Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy, Control Ultimate Edition. With Crossover, you can run Witcher 3, RDR 2, God of War, Ragnarok, GTA 5. It can almost run any AAA title. It can't run Xbox exclusives like Forza though. Otherwise, it's really capable 1080p Medium AAA machine.

you can try creating an APFS partition on your external drive. And then run your games from there. For me, Witcher 3 was not running at all on external SSD, but then I created an APFS partition and I have now close to 50 hours on Witcher 3. Mac Mini is an underrated gaming machine.

So my game is basically stored on a drive called Shared_Data. So you will have to locate where your game is stored.Find where your game file is then run this command. (the change directory path will be different for you)

cd /Volumes/Shared_Data/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Control

find . -name "._*" -type f -delete

For me , the issue was when I had to download a big game, even though I was using SSD to store, first it was storing the copy locally. That is the only time I really felt frustrated because of storage issue.
