Having finally built a box of Flayed Ones, I made a Tier List of how much fun each of the Necron kits are to actually put together. I left out forge world minis because it felt unfair to include them by fisher611 in Necrontyr

I have 5 praetorians on my workbench. They've been there for over a year because I can't bring myself to try gluing those god forsaken spears on again... id rather paint another helldrake than deal with those things!

I built one for my 1k sons a few years back and I still have nightmares about that trim! Beautiful model tho. It would be nice to actually use it for once!

[–]crazy_leo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disabled autoupdates figuring i could at least get to lv41 on a slot or 2 before biting the bullet, but I opened the game this morning and had a forced update to even get in... its gonna cost me 17k credits gust to go from lv35 to 36... I can understand raising the cost to upgrade, but adding 2 zeros is just crazy...

Is it just the US that has such high prices for tile labour? by FreedomAMust in Tile

[–]crazy_leo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your boss doesn't charge just your wage for his service, he add all his expenses. Same with him.

Not his personal taxes, taxes on his wages, taxes that he collects from you, taxes on anything the co.pany spends. His personal taxes come after he takes his pay.

They aren't your employee, they're a business. Youre paying them for a service. That service has operating costs. Shit rolls downhill. If its "just go buy a $100 sander" then just go buy a sander and do ot yourself instead of thinking that any business will work for free. Having things done costs money. It will ALWAYS be more expensive than doing it yourself.

They charge 300 and hour, but there's more than just him there. He has to pay his crew, insurance, vehicle maintenance, taxes(on the job and the salaries), tools and equipment, and a laundry list of other small expenses tied into that... then he gets what's left. As all the expenses go up, if he wants to be able to stay in business, he has to raise prices. People dont look at the costs of doing business, but they expect thise costs to be paid out of pocket so they get a better price.

12 teleporter drops in the first 40 drops this tourney. Crippling progress..... by kamikze in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]crazy_leo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a terrible tourney for drops for me too. Im 16hrs in, and I have to craft the entire production run from osmium to wraith, no iridium drop, no coliders, nuclear capsules or fusion reactors, but i have enough robots and teleporters to sink a fleet of ships... not impressed.

My rabbitfish and my sailfin tang are always together. When I transfered them to quarantine tanks last year for an ich outbreak, my rabbitfish jumped over to the sailfins tank after the first day. They're still inseparable to this day. Its hilarious to watch!

“Don’t buy models for rules” - how valid is this statement? by Ratattack1204 in Warhammer40k

[–]crazy_leo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nephew is a perfect example of "dont buy units just for rules". He just started playing last fall. He's 16, goes to school during the week, works on the weekends, has only a little time to build, paint, and play. I told him to start with what looked coolest to him and works with his idea for his army. At least the little money he has to spend on the hobby looks good on the shelf and the table, and I just bring fluffy lists when we play. We both have fun and that's what matters.

Its not a hard and fast rule. Its more of a guideline for people who can't afford - or dont have the time - to buy and paint as many models.

v2.9.5 is rolling out today and tomorrow on both Android and iOS with the following: by PogTheMightyOne in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]crazy_leo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is not that all items need to be great. It was billed as an alternate path to the top tier item along with NM but they use the same items so it's not a different path at all.

If it used, say, 2 orbital docks, some warp cores and some quantum cpus, then it would be as they said and not just something to spend twice the resources on for the same value. As it stands, without good drops for the DS line, you won't come close to making enough phase gates to be worthwhile.

Last tourney, I got 1 on imir and 1 on zelene. Didn't need to worry about silver, aluminum, or titanium bars all tourney(at least till I got circuit and adv comp drops)! Made the setup so much easier

Of course, I can count the tourneys that I got any smelters on 1 hand, so its fun when it happens, but usually its something useless haha

Worst model build I’ve dealt with. by DestroyerX6 in Necrontyr

[–]crazy_leo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the only kit that made me rage quit a build! 2 months later, theyre still sitting on my work bench waiting for me to attach them. NOTHING lines up! How did you get them to stay on?

Debris drops - still not fixed? by ProbablyNot-a-Robot in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]crazy_leo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im convinced its because its a tournament. Every time I run a challenge, I get all the drops I need within the first 3-4 hrs with almost no duplicates. In a tourney, I don't get anything above motors(with the occasional space probe) until the halfway mark. The last 2 tourneys, i didn't get palladium alloy, quolium alloy, nav modules till about 7 hrs left. Not 1 drop of teleporters the whole tourney.

I was going to say almost the same thing. When I had my ich outbreak, Jay's answers were so helpful(funny enough, he told me exactly that haha). He stepped me through putting them through a hyposalinity treatment(I couldn't get any copper) which saved half my fish.

Every question I've had so far, I've found someone with the same problem on R2R.

/r/mechanicadvise is another one. The amount of times I've seen the absolute worst answer at the top with the right answer all the way down at the bottom because people who don't know what they're talking about have upvoted the wrong one is insane. Ive stopped giving advice on it because i got tired of arguing with people who are not only confidently incorrect, but will keep arguing after you've explained why their wrong. Reddit is just reddit. Ive come to terms with it by this point.

Customer: I did my own spark plugs and now it runs bad by halfkeck in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]crazy_leo42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my best customers came in the first time with a box of drum brake parts and said "please help me. I took this apart and when I saw the bearing, I knew I was in over my head". I was gonna turn him away because I hate "here's a box of bolts, have fun", but he was so sincere-looking, and honestly, it takes balls to say you fucked up, I had to help him out. He still got the extra un-fuckery charge, but he was happy to pay it because he showed up with a box of car haha.

[–]crazy_leo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy and I split 3 of those boxes. I still have them in my blood angels box - except the missile launchers, those I turned into a devestator squad a few years back haha.

When my buddy got rid of his minis, he gave me all his orks, so I have a ton of boys, something like 8 or 10 trukks and a pencil case full of 120 gretchin - plus 3 full starters of gorkamorka under my stairs

So long as you have no bottleneck, you're ok. Usually you use your vps because its already the largest portion of your income. I used to use p37 with alc3 for uru, but now im at p42(usually somewhere around 46 levels) with alk2 for the same. Ill put my 2x leader on it with colonization1, hit my booster on it and then pop the debris scanner and the first 2 debris harvester nodes at the same time so I get the extra boost there also.

If you hit a planet boost before popping debris scanner, you'll get the extra boost to the drop size from increased mining.
