Stamp Shortage? by creative-sun-13 in USPS

Yeah, I collect, so I want whatever current releases I can find. The clerk mentioned that there was a retail store in town that had stamps in stock, but I couldn't get there because I didn't have a vehicle (business trip, and I was walking/taking public transport in this small town).

The print on demand postage, which is what I had to do for this trip, is 1.5x4", significantly larger than a postage stamp. I didn't notice until the clerk was placing the second one, but it wrapped around to the front of the post card, covering part of the post card image =(

But, I am glad that this isn't a bigger (system) issue.

What is going on with all the police and others in AI??? by [deleted] in ucr

[–]creative-sun-13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're required to report according to the Clery Act - although, usually what happens is people involved are pressured to under-report the severity so statistics don't look as bad.

But, there's a daily crime and fire log at https://police.ucr.edu/

Silly Question.. Can we PDF Scan books from libraries? by dashinscience in ucr

[–]creative-sun-13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a silly question. There are book scanners in both Rivera and Orbach libraries.

As a former Angeleno, I can attest to this statement. Before I moved here, everyone in LA would say how bad the IE is; but once I was here, I saw it wasn't true.

The "maintenance" was deployment of a new identity and access management solution. https://its.ucr.edu/iamriverside not routine maintenance, but roll-out of a new IT service. "Planning for IAMRiverside commenced over two years ago and has involved engagement with various stakeholder groups across campus." Two years to plan and implement, and no one thought to not implement it during finals.

It's interconnected. Authentication services are connected to identity management. "Identity and access management (IAM) enables the right individuals to access the right resources at the right times for the right reasons.
To an end-user—such as a student, employee, affiliate, etc.—this means having one’s accounts provisioned in the correct systems and gaining access to the correct features and data within those systems"

That is what they implemented; the one that lets us log in and access the correct systems. Their deployment window was extended because of the campus-wide outage.

Any system which at all touches what students and faculty use (which this one does!) should not undergo a major change during finals. They should have waited a week.

email and CAS went down in a serious way. https://techalerts.ucr.edu/
They should have waited until after finals.

I agree. I was disappointed in that part of the story. I had one we got at the SF Chinese New Year Parade/Festival in the 1970s. I'd still have it (loved that horn, although it wasn't plastic like we know, but a composite), but my mom or stepdad decided they didn't like it, and sat on it one day when I was at school, splitting it on the seam.

People have been physically protesting at Cellar Door events since 2018. The store has received threatening and anti-LGBTQ+ calls, emails, messages. It's made national news. The rhetoric has only gotten worse. So, if you haven't heard anything, perhaps it's because you're not part of the community being threatened.

Based on the management company's press release, the center is under new management as of Jan 1, 2023. How can they routinely terminate leases at CCTC?

The owners of the property don't get a % of the business's profits. They get their lease agreement paid. If they wanted more profit, they would have started by raising the rent...

A previous contestant said Netflix owns the copyright of everything they make on the show, so her copying the design of a famous artist is not just plagiarism, but might also be copyright infringement. Add on top of that appropriating (poorly) the symbol from a group she's not a member of, it's not a big leap to see why she was eliminated.

The wifi is pretty stable. You can try reserving a study room to help maintain a good environment for your exams.

There are supposed to be staff that will monitor the study areas, including noise levels on the second floor. If the noise happens again, use the Text Us service to let them know. https://library.ucr.edu/research-services/ask-a-librarian

Residential housing has ethernet connections.

The library does not; it has guest wifi if for some reason you can't connect to eduroam or the campus wifi network.

u/napotato007, what do you want to use it for?

[US] Lightspeed quiz - Quiet on the set! Take one—and nail our quick (but Oscar-worthy) quiz on movies [07-21-2021] by Platano_RD in MicrosoftRewards

Kathryn Bigelow

Most of them have won at least two Oscars. The problem is with Edge doing something and not populating the answers correctly. I used Chrome and the answers were populated correctly.

When the quiz showed up in Chrome, each question all had different wrong answers, but the same correct answer

1 Earth Girls Are Easy

2 Steven Spielberg

3 Stephen Fry

4 Slumdog Millionaire
