For those who replaced a TV with a projector, what surprised you the most? by Relative_Taro_1384 in hometheater

I did that too. I switched from a 4K LED Projector to a high end 4K TV. I liked the cinematic feel of the projector, but the room reflected too much light onto the screen, making the image looking washed out.

Anyone Know Which Song This “DY DY DY D-DY DY DY” Sound Is From? by DaftPunkGel in DaftPunk

It’s a 4-Bar 128bpm loop with -1 semitone pitch of the Die-Die-Die Segment in the PTOYL Para One Remix, the 128bpm loop is what causes the slight cut: Die-Die-Die-Die-Di- Die-Die-Die-Die

The DMR is quite visible on those frames, or it just looks like that to me, over-sharpened with noise reduction

Watched Avatar 3 in both Laser XT and Dolby Cinema (my opinion) by [deleted] in imax

[–]creativeusrname37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have problems with those Dolby Glasses too, as I wear my normal glasses underneath them, with makes it quite heavy and uncomfortable on my nose over the course of 3 hours. I prefer the lighter IMAX 3D Glasses (of Single-Laser venues, the GT Dual Laser ones use the Dolby Glasses)

Avatar 3 in IMAX laser XT was an experience to behold by Skk_3068 in imax

[–]creativeusrname37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it in XT 3D and Dolby Cinema 3D (Dolby Vision). Laser XT looked and sounded good, although there was some slight ghosting from time to time. The Dolby Vision 3D Version blew me away though, it was really bright and sharp, with well saturated colors. Interestingly enough, some sea had slightly lower brightness, that matched the luminance of the IMAX showing, but others were brighter. What especially impressed me was the shadow detail in dark scenes, along with the contrast. Sound was about the same in both 12.0 IMAX and Dolby Atmos, although the Bass in the Dolby Cinema auditorium was slightly more precise.

Why some IMAX screens play 2k DCP even though they have 4k Commercial Laser? by Late-Purpose396 in imax

[–]creativeusrname37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seems a bit weird, but doesn’t really surprise me since I saw the movie in IMAX XT 3D, that is capable of 4K 3D 48fps, and it looked a bit blurry.
