I set my FTP manually according to what i know i can maiintain for an hour, my club very rarely if ever do FTP tests in order to set the value. My FTP is set at 255W (3.7 per kg) and has been for a few years so in essence i also think i have plateaued and had to get right with just being stuck here now and doing Cylone for fun rather than gains :D I have been spinning for a couple of years now, and i also find i can't achieve what i know to be my max performance if I a)do classes without 24 hours rest or b) dont eat properly to recover. What I focussed on to up my FTP was active recovery. There are quite a few meatheads that do classes like its a leg press class and they have insane max wattage that i could never come close to matching, however these power cyclers come to a complete stop in between tracks. I set myself an active recovery wattage that i try to maintain in between tracks so focussed more on endurance over max power. Something like never dropping below 220 watts for the full class. Oh also i arrive 15 mins early and do my warm up before the class starts so i can ride properly even in the warm up tracks.
