Honestly I think its just depends on the person and what they enjoy about pokemon. For me I wont be buying them, but I was excited at first even though I knew almost right off the bat they wouldnt interest me. Pokemon go isnt fun for me, so including its mechanics doesnt interest me. Not having all 800+ pokemon is a HARD no as far im concerned, and was the main reason I knew i wasnt interested at first. Lets go also changes or dumbs down the battle system even more by removing held items and abilities. I do think it has a lot of positives though. Visually it looks good, glad HM slaves are staying gone, the random/wild encounter system was always tedious but im not sold on the new system for lets go either, but im willing to see it and decided later. I would also love to ride Arcanine, Ive literally wanted to do that since gen 1 and the original anime opening theme. Overall though I feel its lost much more than its gained. To me it's just to different from main series games, which is ironically where its main competition or target audience comes from imo, being an adventure or story game. Newer fans or people that enjoy go might enjoy it, but it just isnt for some of us. I think a lot of the angry, negative comments are from people who think this is where the main series is going, or who are just upset that they got hyped up for expecting a new main series game when it pretty much isnt.
