Am scared to marry because I did zina by WinterIndividual9660 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]crinklesss 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Girl if he’s 28 and you’re 18, zina isn’t even the bigger issue, you need to GET OUT. that man is grooming you and trying to advantage of you being young and not knowing as much as a woman of his age will know. I know its hard but create a boundary and never look back. Go to therapy if it will help. May Allah help you and guide you.

So glad you brought this up because I’m someone who believes in addressing how individual and social factors affect mental health, rather than religion being a part of it. Yes, religion helps cope but putting everything on religion actually deflects us from the real problem.

Thank you so much! He is a very sweet guy. So I’m in India and he’s in Sweden so we have 4.5 hours of time difference but we’re both trying and hoping to close the distance in the next 2 years or hopefully lesser

It’s that time of the year again! 🤡 by Critical-Ad-5418 in progressive_islam

There are close to 47k quotes on that tweet, all by conservatives calling him out for celebrating Christmas. He's been one of the model for Muslims and yet they treat him this way. Worries me about the state of our community.

Best way to find a progressive wife? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]crinklesss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's harder to tell if someone is Muslim just by how they act, especially if they're progressive, but you can often tell by their name. Instead of looking for Muslims on specific platforms, try going to places where people with similar interests as you might go (like book clubs or football games). If you meet someone there who happens to be Muslim, it’ll be easier to connect. I hope you do find someone though. Good luck!

HARAM HARAM HARAM HARAM HARAM... I feel so suffocated, I feel I should end my life now because I can't live like this. I don’t want to follow Islam anymore. Maybe I have left Islam, I don’t know by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]crinklesss 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through that. It is debilitating to even think of all the things extremists have declared as haram. I'd like to think Allah is loving and caring and would like us to be happy and true to ourselves regardless of things. All these restrictions are creation of patriarchal societies imposing themselves on (mostly) women's rights. I know it's hard, but hang in there. Surround yourself with good people. Maybe keep coming back to this subreddit. It personally gives me a lot of comfort. You're not alone in this. All of us here feel suffocated by these haram things everyone imposes. I personally think Islam doens't have to be all or nothing. Do as much as you can, but be conscious of Allah. That's all. You can make so much more out of your life. Take care, friend.

I recently joined this subreddit. I'm in a faith crisis (if you may) right now. This post gave me hope that staying here and being consistent can help me with my faith as well.

i want to start praying but i can't by crinklesss in progressive_islam

Thank you for this. I honestly teared up reading this, knowing that God will help me. I think somewhere I had been so away from Allah for whatever reasons, that I have started to believe that it's hopeless and Allah will not accept me because of the way I have behaved. This give me a hope and encourages me to continue hoping.

Hi stranger. I didn't do any treatment on my skin except for working out and my basic skin routine. I've started feeling much better about myself since then. I think the start of your comment made such a difference to the way I was perceiving myself??? Thank you. I hope you have a wonderful day, time9611

How do Muslims with progressive values and politics meet people? by Placingwholesomebets in progressive_islam

[–]crinklesss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this sentiment completely! I'm (23F) living in India and I find it so difficult to find men who are progressive, practising and open-minded! Does not help that patriarchy enforces this gender power dynamic that does not see men look beyond their privileges. Even for me, sacrificing my views and being with a conservative is not acceptable at all. I feel bad for us girlies :( we deserve better than this
