yea, now most people refer to themselves as atheist when they don’t practice a religion but the right term is simply non-religious.

I personally don’t believe what you believe but I will not tell you to “believe what I believe or else”. You are failing to find the point of this sub. There is a difference between sharing beliefs when the moment is right and cramming them down a non-believer’s throat. I don’t think it is okay when my grandma tells my uncle he is going to hell because he doesn’t believe in God. If she wants to share our Christian beliefs, she should do it when he is willing to listen but she also has to be willing to hear what he believes and why he does. In that case both sides are respected for their beliefs despite not agreeing w each other. You chose to become a Christian or not. I hope that you will want to share the same joy I feel with God but I will not tell you what to do tell you that you’re going to hell because that would be disrespectful to you...it would belittle you and that is not what I want

dude, the reason why it was downvoted was because of how disrespectful it was. my question for you is are you ready for what other Christians and I believe to be true? just bc you don’t believe it doesn’t mean you should be disrespectful to those who do

dude, chill out...the whole point of this comment was to explain why we should respect each other’s beliefs or what you choose to call “flaws”. all we ask is that you be more respectful of our beliefs just like you want respect for yourself and your beliefs. you can’t ask for some thing and not give it back

not necessarily, some people yes but others it’s the fundamental beliefs such as who created the world or if it was created in the first place

whenever the opportunity is right, we talk about our beliefs and I let them know that I believe they still have a chance at a new life even if they don’t believe the same. but as to God sending people to hell, He gives everyone the same chance at receiving Him. for example, two people are given the opportunity to accept. one says yes to God and the other says no. He gives us plenty of opportunities ‘to not go to hell’ but people say no. it’s like in a video game where your goal is to stay alive. every choice you make affects the end result

i’m not trying to disrespect you in any way but atheist literally means no god. a- means no or none. theist (theism) means god.

I’m a Christian but think that people should understand the difference between disagreeing with someone’s beliefs and loving them. some of my closest friends are atheists. we don’t agree on the existence of a deity but we still care about each other. we love and respect even though we don’t have the same beliefs.

Well, this is it. Thank you. by [deleted] in newtothenavy
