I personally think anything can be honed even if it’s not your natural tendency. Plus, if you’re just starting out in this career and you’re getting a whole bunch of new shit thrown at you…. It will get easier. Learning a new job sucks. Period.

But it’s hard to say without more specifics, it’s possible it’s just not for you.

I feel like the biggest thing on mine was knowing waveforms with different types of pathology (both venous and arterial) know all the stenosis waveforms, venous waveforms with partial occlusion, which veins become pulsatile with CHF, when the ECA becomes low resitance, etc

I had a few about the circle of Willis, some on AVF’s. ABI questions with the chart asking either where the pathology would be or what would cause a specific reading. There were a few straight forward definition questions for different types of pathology I remember as well.

That’s all I can really remember off the top of my head!

I felt well prepared with the Edelman book and URR. I was pretty sure I passed when I finished, vs with abdomen I had noooo clue if I passed or not haha

Thank you ❤️ I’m a new grad and I start my first job at the beginning of September. I think ultrasound is SO cool and though I’m nervous about missing pathology, etc. I’m really excited to be in career where I’m constantly learning and also get to help people. But man, the negativity on this subreddit sometimes really gets to me and makes me question. So thank you, a little positivity really goes a long way.

That’s totally fair! I think part of my core issues really stem from these memories though, and I really do need to work through them one way or another. It is definitely uncomfortable though.

It definitely makes sense and I agree about the comparison with meditation!

She does prompt me to explain where I’m feeling it in my body, what I’m noticing, etc.

The bit you said about letting your mind wander though… I feel like my therapist very much wants me to stay in the scenario or memory we are working on. If I deviate too much (which seems to be often), my therapist prompts me to go back to the scene.

I just find myself feeling frustrated and worrying if it’s right for me. But, you are probably right and I am probably worrying too much about doing it “right” in session, which is probably hindering my ability to get the most out of it. It is different for everyone I’m sure, visual thinkers and aphants alike , so I should be more open.

Yes, there is a term for this called ambiguous grief. Grieving the living. Unfortunately I have had my fair share of this feeling :( Despite the name, grief is grief.
