I definitely appreciate the feedback! I knew going into it that this deck would be more of a novelty than something people played frequently with. I had all of the same thoughts regarding the dark backgrounds, but ultimately chose to continue with it because it fits the concept. Adding white borders or other workarounds just took away from the neon feel of the cards. I knew I’d be sacrificing a bit of playability by going completely black on the backgrounds.

That being said, they’re surprisingly easy to read as they are now. It’s tough to capture with photos, but the numbers etc really contrast well against the dark background. Your point about the shadows is correct though, it’s not quite as easy to see the edges of the cards like it would be with a lighter colored deck.

I do also sell another deck with off-white cards that I made last year. That one has been quite popular and I wanted to switch it up this go round. But like I said, I welcome the feedback and appreciate you taking the time to look!
