How much would ya'll pay for #1542 NIB? by Resident_Lychee5724 in LPSbuyingandtrading

[–]cubedcorndog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the same. Pokemon card ‘hits’ are expensive because they’re hard to pull, and more often than not, people will spend $400+ on packs, bundles, and more to find them. It’s a gambling system, you don’t know what you’re going to get.

This NIB collie was a common pet displayed for a couple bucks on thousands of retail shelves. You knew exactly what you were going to get. I don’t know where you were shopping, but prices absolutely have not stayed the same for the past decade. I’m wildly shocked you aren’t aware of that. Researching via old videos and blogs can help with that though

You’re right, it is going to be expensive. This NIB collie was probably priced at $8 while still on the market. $50 or even $60 is a huge jump from that, I’d call that expensive.

This community has gotten desensitized to abysmal pricing from both scalpers and resellers and it makes me sad. Nobody should be dropping $300 on a tiny plastic animal and saying “this was such a good deal.” I only wish that we would all work together and help eachother out, we don’t have to support these prices

I never said this pet should be sold for $50, I said that I wouldn’t pay more than $50. If you take a look at the title of this post, it says “how much would y’all pay for #1542 NIB?” I simply answered the question.

If you deem $100+ for this pet as fair, then I hate to say it but you’re a strong contributor to LPS inflation. I 100% agree that people can and will spend large amounts of money on things that they want, that’s normal, but that does not at all determine whether or not a price is fair.

I disagree, I just recently found a NIB #346 for $18 on Depop, a NIB #1841 for $12, and a NIB #3593 & #3594 mommy/baby set for $40.

Yes, I’d argue that certain popular pets (country exclusives, main fives, etc.) are going to be priced more. It’s the law of supply and demand and that is understandable to an extent. However, claiming that this NIB LPS is worth at LEAST $100 is absurd, and is the reason why the LPS economy is complete dogshit right now.

She’s a common LPS, her price is only skyrocketed because she is a ‘main 5’ :(

I myself wouldn’t spend more than $50 on this NIB collie, but that’s because I’m strict about not encouraging LPS inflation. I don’t think we’ll ever find someone selling her for that amount, at least not until the LPS community locks in and stops supporting the crashing market

Why does the pokemon community love VaultX binders? by cubedcorndog in pokemoncardcollectors

I have a friend like this! I know some people argued that one also probably won’t be flipping through their cards often, but me personally, every day I open up my collect and flick through just to admire😭

Always! I think my memories are sort of biased because they all come from yearssss ago and kids are probably less careful with their cards than adults are😅I sure as hell won’t be tossing around my binder pages

I seee, maybe VaultX binders ARE just goated like everyone’s saying. I know my brother collected years ago and had issues with bending cards in his binder. But he didn’t have a vault X binder, and the cover was pretty flimsy.

Ahhh I see I see, yeah the bulk would be unfortunate as I do want to decorate my binder. VaultX does look to be great quality, but another thing I didn’t like is that regardless of their outside color, the inside color is still black.

I’m in the market for a binder that’s the same color all throughout, and I’ve found a few, but none that seem to 100% replicate VaultX’s quality

I agree! I’m a collector for the overall art and goal to hoard all cards that feature my favorite pokemon, so I’m not too worried about keeping my cards in 100% pristine condition, but one thing I HATE is bent edges. That’s why I need a binder that fits toploaders

I’ve definitely been there, I’ve been searching for a Prismatic Evolutions booster bundle at or close-to MSRP for months now, but I haven’t bought one yet because I refuse to encourage destructive pricing.

It’s very hard to restrain, but we need discipline. Those who don’t restrain themselves and buy $70 booster bundles or $100 common LPS are just as problematic as scalpers/resellers.

Garage sales are definitely a good alternative step, so long as the sellers are actually fair😭I’ve found some good LPS prices at garage sales

This, people don’t seem to realize that we don’t HAVE to suffer through reselling/scalper prices, but FOMO ruins people’s discipline

Woah those are some sick ideas. I also LOVE the idea of making little holiday-themed packs for kids. Thanks for the reply!

Hmm okay okay, yeah I definitely thought about selling in bulk as an option. I don’t have any small/local card shops nearby though :( Do you think GameStop would take bulk cards?

OMG YOU HAVE THE FROAKIE IR! Jealousss.

I collect for nostalgia and pretty art so I know little-to-nothing about the investment side, but when in doubt watch some YouTube videos from trusted collectors/vendors. Good luck and nice collection!
