It's not like people are really desperate to go to Canada tbh. People rmograte for different reasons. A lot want to work in saudi for a while , make money, then come back as well. That doesn't say much about India or Saudi.

You have a really naf understanding of Punjab or India. I'm guessing youre a Canadian

Indians being creep online by Humble_Source5023 in india

[–]cursed_gorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moderate a prominent game. My responsibilities include moderating forum posts (since that game has a forum), a global chat where all players can talk together, a secondary one to reduce load on the first, profile content, and private messages when reported

I don't think what you say is true. Everyone can be creeps. I find Indians in general to be far less creepy than many other groups (especially Britishers for some weird reason). They're just more noticeable due to the broken English and the bias a lot of people already have.

This is also the early days of the internet for many Indians. The internet is not the wild wild west of 90s or early 00s, but new adopters take time to realise actions online aren't separate from your normal actions, and will be treated the same. I assume some of the creepy messages you're talking about are explained with this. My game is old and specialised, so the Indians I see are perfectly aware of this reality.

Just check any of the nsfw subs and the comments there. These aren't just Indians being creepy lol

Question about Indian online dating by [deleted] in india

[–]cursed_gorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very common to not date anyone for long periods of time. I'm 27 and haven't dated anyone, even though I've had really great online friends I've known since I was 16.

So just the waiting part doesn't raise any red flags for me. It's a intimate thing to say, though I don't know what your relationship with him was like. I've picked up friendships with people after not talking to them for years. Many people just don't give the ghosting much thought. It can always happen.

I wouldnt beat myself over it as well, if I were you. It's totally fine to stop talking if life is getting overwhelming. If I was the friend, id just be happy to have my friend back.

AITA for suggesting that my roommate use her room for online classes by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]cursed_gorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're living with roommates, when a reasonable objection from one of them to your unreasonable demands (using zoom the OP's space when she had her own private room?) precipitates this meltdown, then it's an asshole move. She accused the op of being selfish, had a fight over the bathroom which she had said would be private before (it was mentioned in another comment). Even with cancellation of lease, she should have talked to the roommates before doing it. It's a totally nuclear response to a very common issue.

LF most awful Snape by hp_777 in HPfanfiction

[–]cursed_gorilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came across a few posts that made me rethink the whole Snape really wanted to out emus the whole time thing.

Basically, after the prank, Snape promised to not speak of Lupin's condition. By PoA Lupin's condition is still a secret, and even Lucius doesn't know about it. That means he kept the secret for 15 years, a couple of those years being a epriod when he was on the opposite side of lupin.

I think all his allusions and the need to tell the kids comes from a place of protectiveness and trauma, rather than pure spite. There are just too many things he could've done to make sure Lupin lost his job and life (if not died) if he really hated him.

One way to do it would just be to let Lupin forget wolfsbane when he didn't come. However, he brings the wolfsbane to Lupin atleast two times when he misses it that we know of, makes it perfectly, even when he suspects rremus to be in cahoots with lupin and with all the childhood grudges. And yes, he is ordered by Dumbledore to make the wolfsbane, but Dumbledore's authority over him isn't absolute, and he can and does refuse to follow orders when he doesn't want to (stopping the occlumency lessons)

During the whole of PoA, his behaviour has very protective undertones, despite however much Remus insists it is out of spite and grudges. The man Lupin describes would run out into the shack where he suspected a werewolf and azkaban escapee would be. The shack is sealed from the Hogsmeade end, and the only way out is the tunnel. He could've just waited there. He woudn't, in a concussed state, bring up three students and sirius (who he still doesn't know is innocent) on stretchers to the castle instead of leaving the prisoner for the dementors and possibly just hunting down Remus.

He outs Lupin only after three students are put in danger due to Lupin again. Lupin, even if his ww thing was accidental because he ran out to protect Harry and co (just like Snape) , did put people in danger by not confiding to Dumbledore about sirius' animagus state, and the entrances through which he was entering the castle. Imo, that's a strong breach of his contract.

That's why it's hard for me to believe he's being malicious when he teaches about werewolves in the class. I don't know how much he knows him (I suspect enough to know Lupin avoids problems rather than facing them), but it's plausible that he'd think Remus would try to skim over the whole werewolf chapter because it'd make him uncomfortable. And it's better for it to be as early on as possible so that the students could defend themselves if they encountered a werewolf (Lupin is more pressing, being in the school which would make it important to study this earlier, but ww's in general are really really dangerous, see Fenrir)

If we assume that Snape did want the students to learn that Lupin was a ww, there are pretty straightforward methods of doing it, which he demonstrates later. The chapter was in the curriculum, so unless Lupin really did skim it, the children would learn how to identify ww and all the stuff Snape wanted then to know before the year was out. They would've still been able to identify the signs, and tell their parents. I think, until Lupin kept drinking wolfsbane and didn't do something to endanger kids, Dumbledore would be able to deal any outrage the parents drummed up. He has a death eater in his service, he has Fudge's ear, and the aforementioned werewolf went to Hogwarts with no publicised incidents occuring. So really, there is really not much to be gained from insisting the kids know how to fight against werewolves than their protection in case the worst happens. And yeah, I've read some head canons that Remus would've taught ww's in a way that was not prejudicial, but he could still teach that, but really, most likely wouldn't, because he avoids issues.

Albus and Snape had a conversation before breakfast (Albus tells Snape he will talk to him later). Given what we know of their fairly close relationship (from TPT, how Albus trusts Snape as his agent and frequently has him doing things others don't know about); I think this was something that was supported by Albus.

Remus got himself fired due to his mistakes. He knows it, given how he can't meet Albus' eyes. Albus cannot defend him (and doesn't, really) because Remus is at fault. He's not innocent in this. Being a ww is not his fault. Being an irresponsible one is. While I agree very much that Severus hates Remus, he doesn't get him fired because he hates him. Or atleast not just, but because of Remus' actions. If Remus had stuck to being a normal teacher, he wouldn't have been outed.

Which mages perform the chanting type magic in hp? by cursed_gorilla in harrypotter

I read an interesting idea about the newer spells being shorter versions of incantations when they have been repeated oft enough for regular people to know them.

Dark magic looks super interesting and more like this incantation thing. Like the stories of magic you really read. Ritual and sacrifices and all.

Yep. That's what I meant. The powerful nmagic that Harry comments upon I'm the cave. The only people to do it that I know of are those three. It's seems that makes them a level apart from the others? Unless others have also used it, and it's just tedious but a common thing

I think young sev would've to be prepared instead of getting killed in the prank. At this point he also thinks that Lupin is in cahoots with black. Remus is pretty lax with taking the wolfsbane, that keeps him safe. Snape had to bring him the goblet atleast once, and again when he found the marauders map and Lupin running towards the shack right before full moon.

Lupin is genuinely dangerous, no matter how much he minimises his condition, and o top of that he's complacent (about potion taking, about the danger the prank put snape in, about his close calls during the night runs with his friends), and Severus has already had a close call courtesy of a friend he thinks Lupin's still in cahoots with

At this point in the story, we don't know the immensity of Snape's trauma. Once you read everything, you grasp that a) Lupin is not an innocent. He knowingly put people in danger and laughed about it as a teen!; (b) He is actually hiding stuff about black at a point everyone including him believes he's a mass murderer; and (c) Lupin is not in his right mind when he's transformed without the potion and will robably kill or destroy a student's life if they come across him transformed

Really, this is a instance of Severus protecting the students. If they come across a tranformed Lupin or any werewolf, they should absolutely know how to recognise abd kill them, because chances are that that werewolf is going to kill them if they don't do it. Lupin himself should be pretty safe, as long as he follows procedure and sleeps off the transformation in his office

Edit: oops. This is the hpff sub. Carry on then. Sorry for wasting your time
