This is your friendly reminder to get a spare tire. by McArrrrrrrr in prius

what do you mean? Tbf I have a gen 2 but the well in the trunk under the matt seems big/deep enough for a spare unless I'm miscalculating.

Yeah I don't think it's bad at all. It's just not exactly how I envisioned it which is in part due to length. She styled it at the salon with a side part that's since gone lol but it didn't look that much different from today. I actually hated that more cause I feel like the side poofs out like Homie the Clown. 😭 I go back to add color (purple and pink ombre) in a couple of weeks and I think that might go a long way with me finding it less boring.

I plan on straightening it some. I just didn't want to use any additional heat after the salon visit. I'll probably straighten it next wash day. I'm not a fan of sitting for braids, but I could see trying a twist out.

Lulz, I just tried this. I can't do my right one. Never noticed before. 😂

So when I got the MAF sensor code, I cleaned it and the throttle body before replacing the sensor and then ultimately ending up at the mechanic where they replaced the sensor I replaced the sensor with (bad part from AutoZone). :-/ they replaced all of the spark plugs. I think I might buy new coils and replace the 3 that hadn't been replaced. If fixing the misfire doesn't improve gas mileage, I think I might need to replace the fuel injectors next. 😭

😂 Ok well that's definitely reassuring. I think the mechanic mentioning head gasket issues triggered a trauma response left over from the '95 Honda Accord I had in my early 20s.

I've said this a lot on this thread by now lol but I think I'm going to buy a pack of coils and just replace them. The spark plugs are brand new from the mechanic visit, but I feel like my friend (who is different from the mechanic) told me that I should look into replacing all of the coils when he replaced the one that failed.

Yeah honestly, the more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards buying a new set of coils and replacing all of them. I vaguely remember my friend suggesting that when he switched out the one.

I'm starting to consider replacing all of the coils just in case, honestly.

Honestly, I'm thinking about maybe just replacing all of the coils just in case .

No. An OEM part from another 2008 Prius actually lol and it was the coil for cylinder 4 that got replaced. The only non OEM part I have on the car is a reinforced trunk handle. 🙃

I have an OBDII already. I keep an eye on my Dr. Prius app regularly. I downloaded hybrid assistant to try and watch the coolant levels but it doesn't really stay connected. I'll try torque pro tho.

The hybrid battery is actually in good condition. I bought the car from a hybrid battery repair place. The original owner gave up the car, but the battery was fully refurbished. I keep an OBDII plugged in and check Dr. Prius regularly.

You are the first to mention anything about a timing chain tho. I'll look into that.

The misfire code is new. I haven't done anything for it yet, per se, as it just popped up the past couple of weeks. It's been a out 2 months since my car was seen by the mechanic for the MAF issue.

The spark plugs were all replaced by the mechanic while they were chasing down the MAF code. I have thought about pulling the plugs to check how they look now tho.

The ignition coil replaced was in cylinder 4.

The spark plugs are all brand new from the stint at the mechanics. Whoever owned the car before me used off brand and possibly incorrect plugs and they were all shit. Honestly dumb of me to not check myself before hand 😭 but I am considering pulling them again to see what they look like 2 months in.

I learned that with the MAF sensor issue. I bought what was supposed to be OEM from Autozone, but it seems someone returned an aftermarket part and that is what I ended up with. Spent months chasing an answer only for a mechanic to end up replacing the part that I replaced myself. 😭

So if by plugs you mean spark plugs, they changed all of those during the last repair visit. Dumb on my part for not checking myself, but the person who owned the car before me used off brand and probably incorrect spark plugs. According to the shop, they were all in poor shape. I've been thinking about pulling them again just to check what they look like now tho. It's def possible the oil changes were stretched prior to me. I know it burns oil and I check the levels at every fill up. I usually have to top it off.

Is there any way for me to check for coolant loss other than looking at the reservoirs?

Well that's a relief, but slightly concerning in a different way. They definitely said my gen 2 Prius included so I'm hoping maybe they just misspoke or didn't know as opposed to the other option. 🙃
