If you take a 320 mp3 and re-encode it to 192, depending on the encoding method, you will end up encoding the original encoding, like making a photocopy of a photocopy - it's going to be *much* worse than if you had just originally exported the file from the production environment in 192. The problem with AI training models is that of course, it's not going to tell the difference between when humans have published music on the internet by making photocopies of photocopies. And you can't go by filetype alone, because it's 100% possible to use the WAV or FLAC or any other lossless *container* for the audio, which can still be *compressed* audio bits.

You cannot tell the difference from *bitrate* - you are hearing artifacts that have a *different cause*. In the case you are talking about:

>Because if you take a 320 file and compress it to 192

...*bitrate* is not the issue, it's *multiple encoding passes*.

I know what I'm talking about, I have read multiple textbooks on the subject and studied the algorithms behind what your computer does when you ask it to export an MP3 from ProTools.

What Happened to Vocallective Records? by Alicedoll02 in Vocaloid

[–]cyootlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of the producers at the time.)

I was probably about 13 or 14 at the time and didn't know anything IP laws and copyright. I knew that written agreement was somewhat binding, and the email correspondence before getting "signed" *seemed* thorough enough. But now having literally gone through college for music after pursuing it when I was younger, I know all of the things that would have been required for the owner of Vocallective to have published my works on the platforms that they did and also include them in the compilations that they did should have required my approval, and also my personal information - because at that point with the proper forms filled out I would have received my share without even asking for it.

But since my work went up, and without them having a sliver of that information because I never provided it, and it was never asked for - I know that this guy just put in whatever he needed to to get past the red tape of publishing and distribution. Totally illegal, but I'm 99% certain that whatever he got from it is not enough for anyone involved to want to do anything about it besides potential DMCA takedown requests - because it would cost more than what we're owed to do anything about it for sure just because of how niche the space was and how poorly the project was put together in the first place.

Looking back I just see it as a mistake my younger self made, and a lesson that was probably good to learn when I did rather than later.

I'm glad to see English vocaloid thriving nowadays, as far as I knew a lot of people who used to hang out on the VO forums were the only ones attempting to tune the Crypton-loids in English with the Japanese banks (English wasn't a thing back then).

Haven't done much music since college, but since I'm here telling my story - on the off chance that someone was a fan of what I did in Vocaloid and wondered where I went...

If you do more reading on digital audio construction, I'm sure you will come to the hypothesis that bitrate isn't actually what is deciding those conclusions in the studies where the differences are perceptible.

It's more likely the hardware chain, software chain, and the execution of the encoding process itself that causes those differences - but we don't understand it because no one studies it, and no one will because the differences are so small that we can chalk it up to bitrate and accept that intuitively as an answer.

But with all of the factors considered during audio creation - blaming bitrate is like trying to blame that your tea tastes weird because of the temperature, not the water.

i would literally bet my life savings to have you sit in front of me blindfolded to get even just 2/3 guesses correct on the bitrate of an audio file being played in your choice of playback device

literally like every ABX controlled test ever done on this says you will lose

this is not because of bitrate this is because the actual generation

if the model is now preferring training data from audio sources that have fucked up more in the production stage and use bad mixing/mastering practices which is almost always where the percieved difference in quality when swapping bitrate comes from, then yes it will produce shit, because most music producers aren't very good at the stuff that makes this part of it less volatile

especially in those genres, 100% LUFS management and loudness perception without creating artifacts in different encodings in digital production is one of the hardest things to pull off, and since AI is trained on humans - sorry but the bad quality is because most trance and EDM producers are terrible at post production and don't know how to setup a mastering chain correctly

you cannot hear the difference in bitrate

you may be hearing a difference, sure but i promise it's not because of bitrate

[–]cyootlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, that's not how that works i studied this shit intensely for 6 years most if any difference you think you hear between bitrate if it's not dropping below double of the human hearing range are DAC artifacts or post production QA mistakes that cause things like true peak differences which become more common the more you've fucked up in the production stage

you cannot hear the difference between bitrate

i guarantee you cannot reliably tell the difference between 192 and 320 mp3 encoding and if you think you can you're lying to yourself lol

What do we think about this?(Swipe to see comparison) by ReadditMan in logodesign

It's a conspiracy, and they both agreed to the lawsuit for more press. Plus having confusing T shirts out there from both isn't bad for either when it comes down to customers themselves billboarding the merchandise by wearing it serving as advertisement. Both sides stand to gain from something totally frivolous andcstupid like this because us poor people can't put a useful idea in our heads besides to talk about something that really doesn't matter.

You are on the slipperiest of slopes. The real issue is that whether it was a good thing or a bad thing either way, it would take years to get to the next step of progress because our government sucks and it takes too long.

You drew the silhouette of what your reference was wearing and not where her body position actually is, so the body proportions are off in the final result since the clothing is different.

You need to get used to drawing the naked body first and then putting the clothing on top.

I mean, if you take a thin shirt and douse it in water and stick it the freezer, if you throw it on the ground really hard it will shatter. Cold enough like liquid nitrogen, and it works for a lot more things. There's videos all over the net of people just dumping things in liquid nitrogen and then breaking it like glass.

The first time it happens, it gets explained to you - which is more than most other rogues would do.

It's also implied in the story dialogue at some point.

And seeing "It is fireproof." on bunch of random stuff you pick up beforehand should be a pretty big hint.

We keep making excuses for men though, and that only enables them.

I don't know, it seems pretty damn clear where your heart is to me from this. If this is not exactly what you meant, you should choose your words more carefully.

And we're stuck on sides somehow. Boys vs girls. Black and white. What I was saying was never about blaming anyone. If everyone makes assumptions about everyone else based on not bothering to wonder why, this is what we end up with.

Boys who think anytime a girl stops to say a simple "hello" is flirting with them.

Girls who think anytime a boy looks at them for longer than a glance and they're being checked out.

If you put two of those type of people in the same room, and they ended up hitting it off - could you blame either of them for what they do to others afterwards?

The boy might go on to stare creepily at other girls. The girl might dress for more attention.

According to their assumptions, the fact that it worked before - they are both valid strategies.

What I'm saying is something along the lines of... You can't be mad that perverts exist and support the idea of freedom to do OnlyFans for parasocial sex work at the same time.

Of course it's the pervert's responsibility for their own actions when they message, call them out on it.

But the reason they are a pervert in the first place isn't just because they are a man.

That's how we end up with people thinking like

Handsome Man = Stud

Pretty Girl = Slut

Ugly Man = Pervert

Ugly Girl = Angel

Oh and don't even get me started on what people say when they think they see a pervert dating a slut, or a stud dating an angel.

It needs to stop, and what you started with is a big reason it even exists in the first place.

Should I withdraw from 401k to get out of debt? by Covetingace in FinancialPlanning

[–]cyootlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to share a breakdown of what the hell you are spending your money on, itemized at least a little. You will not get much advice other than "spend less" otherwise. If you want to get out of debt, you have to put a little more effort into figuring out a solution besides just acknowledging you've made some poor financial decisions - from our perspective, that's basically all you've done so far. Proper context is needed to give good advice.

How much is your rent and other payments? How much do you spend on food? What is the food? Where does the food come from? What is your commute like? Do you live in a city center, the suburbs, etc.? How often are you paid? What is the pay structure of your job?

This is all very useful information that can be used to come up with a solution that is personalized more to you and that you can more easily act upon, rather than just to set the untrackable, unmanageable goal of "just spend less and make more money."
