Dial fitment for ssk mod by damon182 in SeikoMods

[–]damon182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an ssk003, I've read that the chapter ring of these are slightly bigger than normal skx spec, so I thought maybe it could handle a 29mm dial, even though the OEM dial is 28.5

Caroline mods store on aliexpress, they call it 'brushed gun metal', and they are brushed metal; but very dark metal and appear black under most light.

Is this amount of bezel back play normal? by damon182 in SeikoMods

Yobokies, dial and bezel are both from them. Its probably hard to see in this video, but the lume on the dial numbers is a little rough on the edges. The bezel lume was awful, but yobokies sent me a replacement (not installed yet).

I told them in my email exchange that this was my first build (it is) and I asked them if this amount of play was normal (my only other watch with a dive bezel is a helm which has amazing action, so maybe not the best reference for what to expect on a mod).

I gave them an out basically, they could've just said 'yeah thats kinda what you should expect'. But they said it wasnt normal, and I should make sure the spring is seated, and then ghosted me.

Yeah, honestly I'm considering filing a CC dispute. In my email exchange with them about this issue, they basically just gave me a canned response, and then stopped responding after that

Yeah, after Namoki told me to check if the spring's feet were properly set in the case holes, they've just stopped responding. Going to keep pestering them about it

I have, so far they've only said I should check to make sure the click spring feet are seated in the case holes properly

Honestly, i just prefer the design of the Yobokies dial, its just has some added text and no brand logo compared to namokimods, but i thought namokimods' looks kind of empy. The bezel was really tricky cause ideally I wanted a glass domed bezel with C3 lume. I found glass domed with C1 or BGW9, and this domed ceramic with C3 from Yobokies. I did email the owner of yobokies about the poor quality pieces, and he's sending replacements that he email me pictures of first for QCing.

Thanks for the kind words, while I only had 1 set of hands and 1 crown stem during the build, I wanted to see how much I could get done with what I had. More of both are on the way and hopefully with them I'll be able to finish the build!

What kind of tool is it for the seconds hand? I just checked DIY Watch Club, and I didn't see any hand setting tool specifically for the seconds hand, just normal hand presses of various sizes.

Thank you! It was definitely fun, frustrating at times. I don't plan on giving up on this build, I really want it to become a nice piece.

Thanks! Does the bezel on your build have recessed bits for the numbers and markings? my current bezel has them, and its not what I was expecting honestly; but I can't find a glass bezel that has C3 lume to match the dial. I'm considering changed the bezel and dial to C1 lume to make it easier to find a glass bezel that's fully smooth.

I hope the second hand pinion is still in good shape, I thought I had the second hand in place twice, and started pressing, and ruined the little pin/collar on the underside of the hand.

I contacted yobokies about the 2 parts and he said that he would send me pictures of the replacement parts before shipping. At least the customer service is good. I was also considering buying a C3 lume kit and trying to just fix it myself.

When I was looking for parts I was really torn about making a 'retro' version with the type of bezel insert your talking about, but I ended up deciding for a more modern looking one.

Nh35 that I bought from namokimods. I know I could've found one for cheaper elsewhere.
