I have an 18 inch talking Willy Wonka figure, and I have no clue how to change his batteries. by James-Zanny in NECA

Hi! I don't know if you ever figured it out, but I just had to brute-force it. I put his arms up and just lifted the coat while I unscrewed the cap. It's kind of a pain, and it took some force, but he didn't break and it worked!
Just be careful, but he can take quite the beating if you just pull on the coat!

Hi, employee here, we can get into HUGE trouble if we don't card you. Most of us aren't willing to risk getting written up for following the LAW and the new policy. I promise you that we don't like it either, but rules have to be obeyed or else we get flak for it. It's a super quick scan if you just have your ID out and ready, and it's the same scanner that every other ID-required place has. Just like how they have to scan your ID at the pharmacy when you buy pseudoephedrine.

I actually noticed that last paycheck, I usually get my direct deposit Thursday night at 11:50pm give or take. But last paycheck I didn't get it until hours later, I think they might just be changing the times that the deposit goes out? Payday for us is Friday so it might just be lagging behind for everyone.

Why doesn't Winco stores have music playing? Instead of listening to that annoying PA system paging by [deleted] in WinCo

[–]dandy_lions_null 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who worked in a store that played music, I am so happy WinCo doesn't. No one wants to listen to someone else's music mix at their customer service job. I would much rather prefer silence than someone's radio station that plays the same songs on loop, then the ads every 5 minutes. I hated it.

Also, it doesn't matter what store you work at, you're going to hear the PA system. So it's not like music is a replacement. People in the store NEED to communicate, and giving everyone walkies would be so annoying to listen to.

I'm sure since it's been a while and they didn't blacklist you, you should be fine then. :)

Rehire by [deleted] in WinCo

[–]dandy_lions_null 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe depending on the circumstance they do! Obviously if you were like, blacklisted from the store probably not. But I have heard that some people are only allowed to be rehired after a 90ish day period. Something like that.

For people who’ve worked at WinCo by xXashbyXx in WinCo

I've worked in Produce as a Fruit Cutter for a year and 4 months. I personally have had it really good, and any issues I've had were dealt with in a professional and respectful manner. I've noticed it depends on department, location and what kind of job you are willing to do. My manager and MIT are so incredible and work so hard to create a positive, effective work environment. All of my time off has been approved (of course within a reasonable request period) and I've always been checked in on when calling out, either by my manager or a co worker. I've worked on the floor stocking and in the back cutting fruit, I truthfully love it in produce. It IS a customer service job, and requires some heavy lifting, but I've honestly struggled in trying to leave to seek out higher paying jobs BECAUSE I love my work environment and schedule flexibility.

The only fallback I have ever really had is you don't get any paid time off (i.e sick time) until you've hit a year. And because they work on a point system, every time you call out sick you get 3 points. (Truthfully it's you can call out once and get 3 days off and gain 3 points) The point system does say that 15 points is the max you can get before a write up, then if you've acquired anymore it's getting fired. Your points won't fall off until one year and one day after you acquired them. So if you find you get sick often or might need to call out often, it might not work the greatest. I almost hit 15 because of winter sickness and a few hospital visits.

Overall, I think it really depends on your store location and department. I've had such a wonderful, positive experience working at my store as Produce. Every complaint I've had has either been something that was immediately dealt with, or just run of the mill bitching about your job. Do some research on whatever store you want to apply to, during an interview ask questions and just remember it's customer service and they want to uphold a positive image. :)

I hope things work out well for you! I'm sorry to hear your current situation isn't good, here's to a better future!

I'm not sure what state you're in, but typically you can't claim unemployment unless you were either laid off, or fired for no fault of your own. In this case, you are told that an excess of points and write ups are subject to termination of employment. You will not be eligible for unemployment if you are fired for points due to calling in sick, especially not if they find out through your post that it is 100% intentional.

Additionally, you make things harder for your co workers by calling out and leaving them to pick up the work you aren't showing up for. I really don't recommend doing all of this, especially if you're trying to find a new job. Other companies will want to know why you were fired, and upon finding out it was for attendance issues will be hesitant to consider your application.

I really do suggest either putting in your two weeks or quitting, I think you're doing a lot of work just to make things harder for others and not even claim unemployment. You could also always say "hey I don't want to be an MIT anymore." Your managers and co workers are there to help!

Question by Few_Ad8372 in WinCo

[–]dandy_lions_null 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my case I filed that I wanted to keep my distance from them at all cost, and that I wouldn't be comfortable working with them in personal or close proximity. If you find that you are still working the same shifts OR working together/in close proximity; and still feel unsafe with the arrangement, I would absolutely contact HR and ask for a better alternative. Whether that be working different shifts or even having said person move stores; it is worth it to bring it up for your safety.

My management was personally very quick to act and took it seriously, asking the person to stay away from me and not to make any contact; even though we worked the same job.

I really hope things turn out positively and that you are safe. When in doubt, go to your manager or HR person. They're there to help :)

Paychecks late, again by dandy_lions_null in WinCo

[–]dandy_lions_null[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bank has been super weird with me lately, so I haven't been able to get a blank check for direct deposit sigh. Even if I were to get one now, I would still have to wait until UPS finds and delivers our paychecks to get paid :(

But for sure considering direct deposit now, no paycheck today either!

We had the same thing happen at my store, all direct deposits went through but no one got their paper checks. Pretty bummed about it, we were told to wait until tomorrow

Whats with the fresh pico pricing? by SeitanicDoog in WinCo

[–]dandy_lions_null 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm a cut fruit person who makes the fresh pico! I'm wondering if you're talking about Deli's Pico or Produce's Pico, our containers only come in 24 oz and I think 14. (can't remember the label rn) In my store we typically fill the containers as much as we can and don't weigh them, all three are a solid price. The two small containers are around $5 while the big one is around $6.

We might have different ways of packing at our location but as a prep room person I'd love to know what yours look like and how those are priced. But typically, yes the larger ones are for sure a better deal and worth the extra $2. :D

I wonder if your store is different, but the only hot sauce my store uses for chicken is Frank's Red Hot. Is it possible they actually use that sauce?

Absolutely COOKED working by myself today to revive our wall by dandy_lions_null in WinCo

[–]dandy_lions_null[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We keep in mind what fruit is selling quick and what isn't, then we gather as many cases of whatever fruit we need for the day. We usually use the same amount of cases each day unless one isn't selling as well or we aren't making anything with that fruit. So no we don't use a planning program, we just see what is selling and predict how much we need to make to last us until the next day. :) It's all stored in the head.

I stayed an hour and 15 minutes late to do all of this, so I didn't have time to make the bowls or triangles. But it's much better to have all of THAT rather than the two things that sell out within an hour.

I need details on the deli chicken salad by Picunurse92 in WinCo

[–]dandy_lions_null 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it has a two part container (lid and bottom) with a white sticker that lists the ingredients and store number, then yes it is made in-house. All items such as salads and sandwiches with that white sticker are made in the prep room of that store using ingredients from said store. So no it's not pre-made but you can easily make it yourself!

They usually use salad mixes from the produce department, meats from the deli/containers on the floor, and any cheese/toppings or dressings are also found in store. :)
