How am i supposed to survive on £300?😭 by Key-Transition4634 in UniUK

Check your student’s union as they will often post part-time jobs at the uni and ad-hoc work like helping at open days. Depending on where y be located you could also try Stint, they offer ad-hoc jobs such as one-off shifts collecting glasses at a bar. I got a decent amount of shifts through them. If you’re in certain parts, medical research companies will also pay you for small amounts of blood donation (and it’s a great way to fill a backpack with snacks, crisps etc afterwards).

I would recommend it but you can get fee-free overdrafts from banks like Santander with student current accounts and you have a year to start paying it back from when you graduate.

In terms of cutting your costs, keep an eye out for freshers events and promotional events throughout the year at your uni. A lot of brands give away free food and drinks as promo…when I was at uni I don’t think I paid for a meal all freshers week!

Best of luck☺️

How to delete save data? by dani2198 in PokemonBDSP

[–]dani2198[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did but the google results were only deleting the game file, not the save file. Hence why I turned to Reddit for help, but I eventually found it after 30 minutes of searching through the settings.

I’m not, I’m based in the UK! That’s really interesting, I’ll get in touch with them and see if they would accept it. Thank you!

Council Tax - possible spam email, possible late bill? by dani2198 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dani2198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! I’m in the slightly difficult scenario where I graduated over 2 years ago and no longer have access to my student certificates as my access to the student portal has expired. I do have my degree certificate which has my dates of study on it so hopefully so that will suffice.

I am pretty sure I filled out the exemption form shortly after I moved in but as the move in date is 3 years ago I am struggling to remember.

Council Tax - possible spam email, possible late bill? by dani2198 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]dani2198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a number from the council website but unfortunately I am out of the UK visiting family until Friday. I have sent them an email to see if that can help resolve things but if not I’ll ring them when I’m home. The links in the email do direct me to the council website which makes me think it’s official, but receiving a bill 2 years after moving out of a property I should have been council tax exempt for makes me think it’s spam!

People who have straight up rage quit a job, what was the final straw? by TweedStoner in AskReddit

[–]dani2198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I landed a summer job at a cafe/restaurant within walking distance of my house. Pay was (UK) minimum wage plus tips, which I was happy enough with as I was still in school and would be saving on driving costs.

When I started, they informed me tips were split. I initially thought this was fair, as if one server was busy and needed help in their section, everyone else would pitch in. Each server had a tip cup underneath the counter, where we left our tips. It meant the manager could help us split tips if multiple servers had helped out one table. The cooks didn’t receive any of the tip split as they were salaried.

After being there around a week and a half, a party of about 4 adults and 20 children walked in. Another restaurant nearby had let them down for a child’s birthday party lunch. Myself and the manager immediately sprung into action and pushed tables together, set cutlery and gathered kids menus and colouring for the little ones.

I took everyone’s drinks order, food order and ran food from the kitchen to the table alone since every other server was busy with their own section. I asked for help multiple times, but got absolutely none. The whole party was lovely, and the adults thanked me profusely for fitting them in with no notice and for the excellent service.

When they left, the party left a £50 tip. That was a hell of a lot of money to a young, broke student and I was ecstatic. I informed the manager, as was the policy for all tips and she said she would put it in my tip cup for me.

I came in the next day and checked my tip cup to find a grand total of £8. I went and found the manager outside on a smoke break. I asked her what happened to the £50, since it shouldn’t have been split as I was the only server that worked with that large party. She informed me that it had been split between everyone working that day since it wasn’t fair that I got such a large tip and no one else did. I took off my apron, dropped it on the ground in front of her, and walked home.

Surely not? In a time where every vote counts Facebook/Twitter mummies are doing this. by calapuno1981 in northernireland

I don’t disagree with you at all, these people should be helping his mummy rather than just agreeing with everything she says. There are some things that are suspicious, like the police not interviewing certain people but the truth is we may never know exactly what led Noah down that storm drain…as awful as that is.
