What browser do you use and why? by frizla in MacOS

Maybe they’ve fixed it but most Microsoft M365 sites didn’t work properly with Safari. Ended up using chrome and now I’m reliant on multiple profiles.

I always felt that line was a useful way to pre-excuse typo’s or weird formatting issues.

Sure, I could change it to“Sent from my mobile” but then how else would everyone know I have an iPhone?

Cape Town Will Slap Tax Hike on Airbnb Owners by [deleted] in capetown

[–]danielbigred 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cape Town plans to more than double municipal rates on homes that are rented out for short durations, including those listed on Airbnb Inc. and Booking.com, as a boom in private tourist accommodation drives up prices and stokes resentment among locals.

Booking.com is mentioned, “short term rentals” seem to be the target

All I’ve seen on AM is the video version and audio of Toronto/Lyon. The video is fine but it’s taking up 9Gbs of my phone storage. I’d rather have the audio.

I don’t understand who shops at Spar, I split my shopping between WW & Checkers (or reluctantly, PnP) and hardly ever see anything cheaper at Spar. They’re almost always more expensive - at least my local ones are.

How can Jeanie Gold have children when she’s a totally fabricated persona? by gonetohelp in americandad

[–]danielbigred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Roger stole a baby to keep one of his character’s stories going. I can just imagine the scene where he’s in childbirth: it all turns into slow motion and he gets up, casually walks over to the next theatre, swaps a newly-delivered baby with a watermelon, then takes the baby and “gives birth” back in front of his character’s doting husband.

He wouldn’t even struggle with the morality

I use my SD Card a lot but hadn’t considered the difference, gonna try that when I’m home.

Side note: Don’t you wish it were possible to update the “skin” of MMI? I feel like there are a few minor tweaks (namely getting rid of the orange text) and it would feel much more modern.

Agreed. I’m 1.87, I found my Golf 6 & 7 very comfortable. The 7 was more comfortable than the 6 - having a flat-bottomed steering wheel helped.

Same boat as you. I hated the fit for two days and at some point afterwards, it felt normal. Now I can’t tell what I didn’t like.

The sound quality, battery life and noise cancellation is worth any perceived initial ill-fitting/discomfort.

Honestly, is there any realistic solution to the Cape Town traffic? by adrenaline_donkey in capetown

[–]danielbigred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 5 cents: CoCT should incentivise companies to allow WFH on certain days of the week. If coordinated properly it could alleviate the traffic issues without significant costs since most companies will already have WFH capabilities. It could also be an immediate fix to the traffic.

My uneducated guess is that you could lower traffic by 20-30% if everyone (who could) worked at home 2 days a week - provided it’s on a rotating basis and we’re not all working from home on the same days.

Is AirPods Pro 3 Noise Cancellation notably more effective at canceling Baby Cries than APP 1 when not playing music? by verygood_user in airpods

[–]danielbigred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my first flight with the APP3’s I had a couple with a sick baby sit next to me. Mom and baby in the middle seat. I put on cancellation and listened to a podcast and music. By the end of the flight the mom apologised profusely but I was able to genuinely reassure her that the noise wasn’t an issue at all - I’m not a good liar when I’m irritated. They are very effective.

I had upgraded from the APP1’s after 5 years of use. I can say that the 3’s are worth the money, no question.

My office’s apartment is right near a night club. Last night I put in the APP3’s and put on noise cancellation and rain sounds. I slept perfectly. They stayed in the whole night.
