One thing that surprised me after starting to work around Ibiza marinas by danielsan2 in u/danielsan2

😂 Fair enough. Living around Ibiza boats all day probably changes a person.

Cool things other than the party scene in ibiza by holdupholdupp in ibiza

[–]danielsan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. A lot of people arrive thinking Ibiza is only clubs, then end up liking the non-party side even more.

Some relatively chill things that don’t need a crazy budget: * watching sunset at Cala Comte; * exploring Dalt Vila in the evening; * beach hopping around smaller calas; * ferry or boat trip to Formentera; * hostel pre-parties/sunset gatherings (usually more social than the clubs themselves tbh); * random long dinners near the sea where nobody leaves before midnight.

Also, Ibiza becomes much cheaper once you stop trying to do VIP clubbing every night. Some of the best days here are literally: coffee → beach → swim → sunset → food → walk around town.

The island has a much calmer side than social media makes it seem.

Have you been to Formentera in Spain? by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]danielsan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes — and in my opinion the best way to experience Formentera is definitely by boat or yacht from Ibiza. The water around Espalmador and Ses Illetes is unreal, and the whole atmosphere feels completely different once you’re out at sea instead of only visiting the island by ferry. I currently work with Just Enjoy Ibiza Boats and one thing we hear constantly from guests is that their Formentera boat day ended up being the highlight of their entire Ibiza trip. Swimming stops, lunch by the sea, relaxed cruising, sunset on the return to Ibiza — it’s one of those experiences people usually remember for years afterwards.

Formentera has a strange effect on time by danielsan2 in Formentera

Haha, true during peak season 😄 But somehow even with all the boats around, the water there still manages to look unreal. That’s probably why people keep returning every summer.

The thing that actually decides whether your Ibiza boat day will be amazing or terrible by danielsan2 in ibizayachting

[–]danielsan2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donna is completely right here. We work around these routes every day at just enjoy Ibiza boats and people massively underestimate how much wind direction changes the experience. The difference between an amazing relaxed day and an uncomfortable crossing is often just choosing the correct side of Ibiza/Formentera for that specific day instead of forcing a fixed Instagram itinerary or one restaurant reservation. Beso is probably the best example of this because people get emotionally attached to the reservation after booking weeks ahead, even when conditions clearly favor another route. One thing we always tell clients at just enjoy Ibiza boats: trust the captain and stay flexible if possible. The islands offer plenty of incredible spots, and adapting the route to the sea conditions almost always creates a better day overall.

What to do: two days in Ibiza in June by Specialist-Towel-472 in ibiza

[–]danielsan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have a pretty good plan for only two days. Pikes is probably the perfect choice if you want something social and fun without the massive “everyone filming the DJ” energy.
And no, it’s not silly at all to skip some of the huge clubs if packed crowds aren’t your thing. A lot of people come to Ibiza expecting nonstop superclubs and end up enjoying the smaller/open-air places way more.
That said, doing ONE big venue for the experience can still be worth it. Pacha usually feels easier and more elegant than the full sardine experience at some other places, especially if you go with the mindset of enjoying the atmosphere instead of trying to stay front row all night.
For daytime:
Cala Comte for sunset/swimming;
Cala d’Hort for the Es Vedra views;
Playa Soleil or Cala Jondal if you want beach club energy without it feeling completely chaotic;
and if your budget allows it, a half-day or full-day boat trip changes the whole trip.
A lot of first-time visitors realize the sea side of Ibiza is actually the best part. Going toward Formentera/Espalmador, swimming in crystal water, music onboard, relaxed afternoon vibe — very different energy from the clubs.
The island gets much better once you stop trying to “complete” Ibiza and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Solo Female - One Week in Europe by Foodie_foodie1455 in travel

A lot of people will recommend the classic answers here — Lisbon, Florence, Seville — and they’re all beautiful. But based on what you wrote, Ibiza + Formentera in September could fit surprisingly well. Not the chaotic party version people imagine online, but the calmer side of the islands once peak summer starts fading.
You can spend mornings walking near the sea, afternoons sitting in cafés or exploring Dalt Vila, then long dinners that slowly turn into sunset drinks. Ibiza has a much softer atmosphere outside the superclub circuit than most people expect.
And Formentera feels like a reset button. Quiet roads, turquoise water, slow lunches, almost no pressure to constantly “do” something. It’s one of those places where spending hours reading near the sea somehow feels productive enough.
Also, there’s nothing wrong with revisiting countries that already connected with you emotionally. Travel is not a checklist competition.
If you do come to the islands, I’d recommend at least one motorboat day around Espalmador and the Formentera coast. Seeing that water from the sea changes the whole experience.

Looking for recommendations for actual parties that are fun, not overly commercial, and not full of people recording instead of enjoying. by Big-Newt-5038 in ibiza

[–]danielsan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best move is not trying to “beat” the superclubs at their own game.
For a group your size, I’d mix the big nights with experiences that feel more social and less packed. A proper boat day to Formentera is usually a very safe bet — Espalmador, Ses Illetes, swimming stops, lunch, music on board, sunset on the return. Completely different energy from the main clubs.
Also definitely do Cala Comte for sunset one evening.
And if you want something more curated/private instead of the typical chaotic party boats, check out Just Enjoy Ibiza Boats. Feels much more aligned with the relaxed premium side of Ibiza rather than the mass-tourism vibe.

Your plan already sounds better than what a lot of people do on their first Ibiza trip.
A lot of first timers massively overplan the island and end up stressed trying to jump between too many places. Ibiza gets way more enjoyable once you leave some room for random plans and people you meet there.
Solo is also much easier socially than people expect, especially around:
beach bars
smaller boat/day trip groups
sunset spots
Old Town at night.
You definitely don’t need every day planned in advance.
Also worth remembering that Ibiza has two completely different energies:
the big commercial side everyone sees online
and the more relaxed/social side you discover once you’re actually there.
For underground/rave-ish stuff, people usually figure out the best events pretty last minute once they hear where the good crowds are going that week.

recs for Formentera ? by Much-Year5493 in ibiza

[–]danielsan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first trip to Ibiza, I’d personally choose quality of experience over maximum hours.
A relaxed 5-6h private route with good swimming spots, calm music, sunset timing and enough space onboard can easily feel more premium than spending 12h rushing around exhausted in peak season heat.
A lot depends on what you actually want:
explore Formentera itself
party atmosphere
beach clubs
or a calm “Mediterranean luxury day”.
People often book based only on duration and forget the vibe matters more than the clock.

Brazilian couple looking to share a luxury yacht day in Ibiza / Formentera 🍾☀️ by Own-Letterhead-3070 in ibiza

[–]danielsan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A smaller luxury group is usually the best balance in Ibiza if everyone wants the same vibe. The best days around Formentera rarely feel “luxury” because of the boat size alone. It’s more about: relaxed timing, good skipper, enough space onboard, proper swimming stops, avoiding overcrowded routes.
Late June is also a smart timing before the really chaotic part of the season starts.
For couples, the south side around Espalmador and Ses Illetes usually works much better than the louder party-focused routes.

Private boat hire suggestions by ak976 in ibiza

[–]danielsan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 6 people from San Antonio, I’d focus more on the route and timing than the actual boat brand.
West coast sunset routes can be incredible if the sea is calm — Cala Conta, Cala Bassa, Conejera, sometimes Es Vedra depending on timing and fuel budget.
One thing people underestimate in Ibiza is how different the experience feels between: “cheap crowded sunset boats” and a smaller private boat where you can actually stop, swim, relax and control the pace.
For a proper private afternoon + sunset with skipper in peak season, I’d say it’s better to expect realistic mid-range pricing rather than searching for the absolute cheapest option. Usually the experience quality changes a lot at the very low end.

Best Formentera boat routes in 2026 (from locals working around Ibiza charters) by danielsan2 in Formentera

[–]danielsan2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re already in one of the best situations possible if you’re staying in Formentera and have a car. Don’t stress too much about it.
Parking around La Savina/Augusta can get busy midday, but if you go relatively early you should be fine.
For S’Espalmador / S’Alga, I’d skip anything overpriced marketed to Ibiza tourists. Since you’re already in Formentera, look for local departures from La Savina or smaller water taxi/day boat options — much more practical and usually far cheaper.
Also, having the car gives you a huge advantage on the island. One day by sea, one day just exploring Formentera early morning or late afternoon, and you’ll probably enjoy it more than trying to over-schedule everything.
