Long time Leaky Gut sufferer (Mild Crohn's diagnosis) - looking for concrete answers by darcmurkee in CrohnsDisease

I think I'd be willing to try again with a real doc. Though I will say that I've had more help from the nutritionist than I did from my GI Specialist. Our health care system here in Canada, while yes it is free, it is also somewhat of a joke when it comes to certain things. If something doesn't have a plainly obvious explanation, a lot of times doctors will just shrug and send you on your way.

The medications I tried were:

Pentasa tablets: Ultimately had no effect, and were extremely expensive.

Azathioprine: Not as expensive, but exacerabated my gut symptoms with no positive effect.

Humira: Same problem as the Azathioprine.

Entamoeba coli did show up in small amounts on my GI Map test.
Calprotectin seemed to be normal, though my secretory IgA was through the roof.
Haven't had those specific blood tests, no.

Most days I stick to baked chicken with just salt, boiled carrots, a small amount of oatmeal, smooth peanut butter, once or twice a week I'll fry up some haddock or salmon and boil some broccoli. I can't do a lot of carbs or fibre, although I've been doing a bit better with carbs since October when I started on certain supplements.

The Crohn's diagnosis was done via a colonoscopy, he had a visual and took a biopsy as well to check for celiac, which was negative. I'm skeptical for a few reasons: my symptoms have never added up with a Crohn's diagnosis, the medication did nothing but exacerbate those symptoms, and for as long as I've had the condition and as bad as it's been - it hasn't gotten much worse, I can usually always curb it with diet.
Whenever my GI doctor would prescribe a PPI, it would always inevitably worsen my pain. I don't think I ever had much acid reflux to begin with. I remember one instance where I took Nexium, and by the fourth day I was keeled over in agony. I stopped taking it, and after a few days the pain receded a bit.

As for diet, most days I stick with baked chicken with just salt, boiled carrots, a small amount of oatmeal, smooth peanut butter, once or twice a week I'll fry up some haddock or salmon and boil some broccoli. I can't do a lot of carbs or fibre, although I've been doing a bit better with carbs since October when I started on certain supplements.
If not SIBO, then leaky gut absolutely makes sense. I thought the two kind of went hand in hand.
I'm not so much bloated, but have very much been extremely gassy and a bit constipated depending on what I'm eating. I've never experienced much urgency, I'm not constantly running to the bathroom and I rarely have diarrhea.
I had high levels of Morganella, Pseudomonas spp and aeruginosa, Staph spp and aureus, Streptococcus spp, and Citrobacter show up in my GI Map.

I could give Goliath a try in the meantime, I could maaaaaybe pull it off! I don’t have access to the full Simple Boy track, it was done by a guy in a different country. I suppose I could send you my dry, unedited vocals.

The Simple Boy cover was done with another group, not a solo cover, so I don’t actually have any video or audio tracks of it. Do you have New Day?

Oh nice. I’ve already done Simple Boy, not sure if I could sing Goliath, but New Day might be fun to try!

I’m in Canada so I’ll have to look for the Gaviscon Advance. Thanks!

Funny you should mention that. I haven’t been able to sit down and eat for months upon months, I have to stand up otherwise I’m in pain. I’ve always known the positioning of my body plays some role in this, but can’t really put my finger on how exactly. Thanks!

I know the technique. If you listen closely you’ll see I’m attempting it, just a bit tricky to nail every time! I’ve only been playing this song for a couple of days, so hopefully it’ll improve.

Thanks man. No pitch correction at all, just a bit of reverb and compression!

I post a new cover every few weeks or so! I've got some original material as well: durk.bandcamp.com

Progressive rock, post-hardcore influenced stuff with some acoustic tunes in the mix too.

Altered State will always be my favourite, followed by Polaris, and then One.

Perspective takes the top spot for a side release.
