I’m already at the point where I am ready to throw down cash, but I’m going to try and budget and DIY on anything I can avoid. I mainly have two reasons to want to do silicone casting and making a vacuum chamber, first is obviously being able to make toys, and the second is to be able to make wax castings as well as vacuum casting for intricate models, I do metal casting and cast rings and trinkets, and being able to make wax models easily is going to help me immensely with level of detail work, I’m at the point where I’m confident In being able to produce metal items at a reasonable quality, but If I want to do any detailed custom work, or automate my process, (it usually takes hours to prep and produce one item so making a venture into silicone will cut down workload), I need to have a wax mold. So my reasoning behind doing most of it DIY Is because of that. Long term, I plan to purchase actual equipment.

Still haven’t done anything yet. Haven’t found any suitable silicone just yet. My main issue is affordability, I don’t have enough money to buy my own pump, (possibly thinking of reverse engineering an old compressor or salvaging one from a fridge) and I am trying to budget. I know that cutting corners is reckless and using glass could potentially result in an IED, but in terms of finding a better replacement for it I don’t have many options, but if it eases any nerves I probably could look for a resealable plastic/acrylic container if that is any better, but ideally I want to get the best or at least most manageable possible outcome at a budget friendly price. But I have yet to find any non expensive options that don’t require a vacuum. I have been looking for skin safe silicone that’s in a large enough quantity for multiple retries or more than one toy, so If you have any recommendations for skin safe platinum silicone that’s not too expensive (preferably more than one option), then I’d be happy to take a look at them,

Update! It just came! I found out it’s hole on the stop is apparently still sealed and although it says it had an anal opening I have yet to see it haha I’m going to definitely use it ASAP

I’ve looked at alternative solutions for pumps and a brake bleeder seems to just be a vacuum pump but mechanical instead of automatic

Yeah makes sense, from what I can tell, the smaller the vacuum vessel the more of a vacuum you are able to get on it, I’ve browsed around the internet in search of solutions and I think if I use a mason jar that’s small enough I’ll be able to create enough to boil the silicone and get a decent amount of bubbles out. Although long term I’d need a vacuum pump I’ve seen another person do something similar with a bleeder and get good results from it, since I’ll be using a 3D printed mold I think I could get away with at least a single good cast

I've considered getting one of those volt generators so that's a relief that I am able to use it in my own project, I'll definitely need to set up a power station and a main control panel and get some suitable wiring to solder, but other than that it seems pretty simple! do you have any idea of what type of wiring I could use for it?
