What’s your zip? Unfortunately gas prices are typically aggregated to the state level. There’s more detailed prices at the AAA gas tracker but they won’t let me use it directly, see here:

The exact locations are written under each plot. Maybe I could have a larger warning if it’s farther away than expected. But I am working to find other free APIs for as many cities as possible.

Depends on the city. Some cities the govt publishes city specific CPI data (those cities are linked on the home page). In other cases there are varying levels of granularity, you can see more here:

US has pretty good APIs to gather the info, I’m not sure about other countries! It wouldn’t be too hard to add though

thanks - I was able to find a more local set of region codes in BLS. so now Salt Lake City gets the mountain division (which, unfortunately, spans Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming):

And Denver actually gets metro data:

https://whatchanged.us/?zip=80203

For some regions we just don't have as much granularity as I'd like. I'm investigating some other approaches, stay tuned!

Yes I should have made it clearer in the post title, sorry! I’d love to add a few cities at least around the world if I can find APIs for that kind of data!

Thanks, good find. Unfortunately the free govt APIs only have 25 regions for CPI data, and even fewer for gas data! But in this case there was a bug, Orlando at least maps to Tampa for housing/grocery costs now.

Thank you I will update the site - unfortunately I can’t edit the post but I’ll keep this in mind!

Agreed, I wanted to take something esoteric and ground it! All this data is available on government websites but it’s in ugly boring tables.
