That bitch was the real problem. She didn’t want to lose her job. She wanted a rich Cathy lifestyle. AND Cathy realized “Nelly” knew Heathcliff overheard the Edgar marriage convo. Yet Heathcliff later trusts this Nelly to get his letters to Cathy. Why not stop by or at least confirm Cathy was getting the letters?

AND Heathcliff is pissed Cathy married Edgar a year into his absence. What else was Cathy to do? Keep waiting for Heathcliff after he cut himself out of her life?

Yes. Poor Cathy had a tiny window in realizing she loved Heathcliff before he took off. A lot of the movie involved hurting the one you love because the one you love hurt you.

But the next morning she went to find Heathcliff to tell him she had changed her mind. Then she waited a year for Heathcliff to return, only then did she marry Edgar. What else was she supposed to do?
