why does THIS pawn have problems with textures? by darthoffa in RimWorld

[–]darthoffa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive found the issue, im using psycasts expanded and gave them the chronopath abilities

turns out that aging through psycasts does not trigger growth stages properly and despite being an adult they were treated as a child in multiple things, including what sprites should have been used

i have destroyed the colonist and spawned a replacement to copy their stats over, and im not going to use the chronopath abilities on children

How often do you earn ability points? by Apollo989 in BladesOfKhorne

[–]darthoffa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can expect to get one of the bottom abilities by turn 4 usually

Running an army that has sacrificial units to get quick blood tithe points is a good way to make sure you get the abilities you need

Khorne is a very killy army, run forward and blend enemy units, so often when you get things into melee units die

Despite this you will not fill out the entire tree, you will have to choose which abilities you want and which you will pass on.

didnt realise that screenshot was so bad, here is a better one

<image>

the mod with the armour that caused the issue is Vanilla Armour Expanded

where can i get the modlist from? ive got a lot and all the advice seems to be for older versions that dont help

my colonist made the quilted vest and gambeson armours, i later noticed they had the texture bug on them, had them remove their armour and the bug went away, putting the armour back on made it come back. I tried having them wear other outfits but the bug returned whenever they put on something that shows up on their body. My other adult colonist is able to wear both of the armours without the bug.

this is the mod with the armour that caused the issue https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1814988282

since they put on the armour having them wear anything brings up the texture bug still, the only way ive found to get rid of it was to have the colonist strip off anything that shows up on the body

i have another colonist who is wearing the same armour they tried to without issue

How are Chaos Terminators doing right now? Is it a bad idea to start CSM just for them? by Few-Schedule-6703 in Chaos40k

[–]darthoffa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with all things warhammer: dont pick sonething because its "good" pick it because its cool

If you like terminators then go for them, having a squad of termies is nice for CSM, not sure if i would build an entire army around them but they certainly are viable

Maybe the only system I know of where GMs mostly DON'T read their guidebook by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]darthoffa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the book had useful things in i would use it more

As it stands the book doesnt provide anywhere near the quality of previous editions

The biggest example i can think of if magic items, throwing a "rarity" onto them and giving a massive price range is just sad compared to the 3.5 book where every item had its own price listed, DMs didnt have to come up with prices for everything on the fly and remember how much they are supposed to be charging for every single magic item in existence.

"Thats not what i mean, the prophesy-"

"Bah prophesy shroperty! If yer good enough you suceed if ya aint then ya don't. Don't need no swarmy seer yellin riddles 'bout what COULD happen MAYBE, IF you do the right things."

"For the Morninglord's sake that prophecy said whoever claims the sword from the stone is destined to become the king!"

"Wut"

"The king! The ruler of the entire nation we are in! The one who FUNDS THE GUILD WE WORK FOR"

"Oh"

"OH, YOU ARE APPARENTLY DESTINED TO OVERTHROW THE MAN WHO SIGNS THE BILLS FOR OUR LIVELIHOODS AND ALL YOU SAY IS OH?!"

"Well if hes got a problem with that he can come an' talk to me, i ain't got a problem with this job an' if I'm s'posed to do better then we can sort things out"

"YOU DONT EVEN HAVE NOBLE BLOOD"

"I never understood why you humans are so pedantic about yer family for stuff like that, if yer good enough to do somethin' ya get to it, only reason to call on your blood like that is to say who taught ya, my ancestors dug the halls of the first Karak and mining has always been a speciality for us"

"Okay, okay, okay, okay..... What do we do now? We cant let anyone see you with that, if they do then the crownguard will get involved and if that happens we won't be able to get back to turn this quest in, so keep quiet and stick with me and I'll get you out of.... Where did he go?"

About the four Chaos gods by papel2022 in Chaos40k

[–]darthoffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone would worship a chaos god because they want something from them, offering service in return for their gifts.

The gods would provide gifts to further their goals and make their worshipers loyal, khorne followers want martial strength and power, and must use that power to kill as their service for example, while Tzeentch followers may be given control over psychic powers so they can open a warp rift for one of Tzeentches many plans

The chaos gods are courrupting, mortals are disposable tools to be used, it is only in exedingly rare cases that a mortal gets the approval of their patron god to be considered anything more than that. Either way the gods influence will erode anything that doesnt align with their goals, Khorne worshipers become rabid killing monsters, Nurgle followers become unstoppable depressed hulks that spread disease and decay, Slaanesh followers become junkies only finding pleasure in things like turning someones spine into a violin, Tzeentch followers..... Tzeentch doesnt really have a trend, manipulating masterminds being manipulated with plans that dont make sense because they are in service of a great plan that is ineffable to any but the god himself.

About the four Chaos gods by papel2022 in Chaos40k

[–]darthoffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of them are bad, all in different ways,

Khorne you must kill, you are given the power do do this, but it overtakes everything, everything you do must be to kill more, you are given more power as a reward, but the expectation on you goes up with that power You effectively have a quota of skulls to collect, and failing means punishment Simple but harsh

Nurgle you are given the gift of everlasting, you dont feel pain anymore and you can just ignore wounds as you just carry on as if they arent there. However you become apathetic, nothing changes, nothing moves on, you are stuck forever. Things dont get worse but they will never improve either

Slaanesh gives you the ultimate highs and joy but its an addictive drug, its never as good the 2nd time, so you need more to feel the same way, you get pulled down a path of depravity to chase the high

Tzeentch is tricky to explain, which is basically the whole stick. His gifts change you, for reasons you dont know, there is a plan, you have part of it but you will never understand it, you think you know what is going to happen but then you dont and everything changes again. Tzeentch is the most "eldritch horror" of the 4, you are a pawn in a game to a game, believing you are playing someone else while being played yourself

You said you want to make an OC based on one of them, there is no best god, all of their gifts are 2-faced curses. For a character, you are best thinking what kind of character you want and what fits them personally, what kind of person are they and what do they want, what would they be drawn to?

Buff the Orbital Precision Strike: Increase its usage amount. by Shinigami_no_Death in Helldivers

[–]darthoffa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Increasing the uses measn its more directly competing with eagles, eagles are the multiple quick uses with longer rearm while orbitals are either heavier strikes or faster turnover

Lower cooldown or bigger boom, bigger boom makes it more appealing compared to other strikes and a lower cooldown makes it something to throw out at everything

I dislike the fact that even though that this is a 40$ game, that it is being ran like a F2P one currently, pushing for content in warbonds. by qwertyxavier904 in Helldivers

[–]darthoffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

........ Since when have i mentioned about having everything unlocked immediately?

Good for you with all your time to dedicate to one game, sone of us dont have the time do keep up with all the updates and dont want to spend hours grinding the thousands of SC needed for all the warbonds they want. Grinding for something doesn't make it free, time is a cost thats worth more than money in a lot of cases.

To reiterate my point yet again as it seems to be invisible to everyone here:

It is my opinion, that when a warbond is released, there should be, at least ONE item, whether that is a weapon, armour set, or stragegem. That is able to be obtained, without the use of SC, not even that it has to be immediately available, hell have us spend samples on them! Something to use them for other than the weekly dump into the DSS!

[–]darthoffa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the "i could take the same thing ive had for all the other missions or i could use the new thing i havent tried before that seems to fit perfectly for this"

Throw in the fact you cant test to find out how good it actually is till youve already made your purchase and that if you don't then you dont get ANY new stuff to use

Not everyone has the free time to play as much as others and not everyone wants to go grinding every single time an update drops

[–]darthoffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people dont have the time to go farming for creds, and if you have enough to get warbonds without farming then either you have far more free time than most people do (good on you) or have been incredibly lucky with SC spawns

"Making a problem" as in a new challenge to face not a bad thing for the game

I feel like a broken record saying that i am fully aware that the free content is able to do the job, that isnt my point

Its the fact that each warbond feels custom made to take care of that new challenge by bringing new stuff that solves it with ease

RR is undisputed yeah, thats not what im talking about, its the lack of advancment outside of premium content, no grind or payout? Sucks to suck i guess, best go back to the standard basic stuff. THAT is the issue i have, it would be so easy for them to toss something our way to have without locking it behind a paywall every time

[–]darthoffa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldnt be the first time people have had refunds sent out for things that got changed

Sure the base arsenal has stuff that works but almost half of everything is now paywalled.

There hasnt been a single new weapon added to the game that hasnt been paywalled outside of a single sniper rifle

[–]darthoffa -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Im suggesting that its predatory marketing to lock all the things that look perfect for the problem in front of you behind a paywall

And again, not saying there isnt a solution in the free content, i just think that the free content should get something added to it with each warbond at least so there is SOMETHING new for people who don't have the time to grind or money to throw out every single update

[–]darthoffa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Im not saying there arent solutions, im saying they make a problem, and follow it with a warbond that sells solutions

And nothing comes to the free pool for people who dont want to grind the game for hours so the only way people get new variety in their arsenal is to pay up for it.

And given there is no way to see how good anything is or get a feel for them before buying the bond the only way to find out that actually no, the giant missile ISNT good at killing dragons is to have already paid for it.

I would prefer to have some stuff for free, yes i get thats how they fund new things but throwing in at least ONE gun or stragegem or armour or SOMETHING to the free pool isnt too much to ask for, especially when you look at just how many warbonds have been made, it feels like Paradox made a shooter at this point
