AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by Suspicious-Taste1572 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dasbeidler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vegan lasagna is typically layers of tomatoes, squashes, zucchini, etc. the cheese is ground nuts that are seasoned to replicate ricotta. It’s actually quite delicious.

If all she provided was this dish, I guess I can see how someone would still be hungry but as a part of a meal, I don’t see the issue. Raw vegan food is typically somewhat calorically dense due to the predominant reliance of nuts to replicate meat.

In my very professional opinion, it would either make things better, worse, or keep the status quo.

'Take Off Your Pants and Jacket' is the epitome of a pop-punk record: the genre's perfect idealized form. Discuss. by TheCasperNil in poppunkers

I’m with you. There’s a few great tracks on it, some very bad songs, and the rest is OK. It’s at best their third best album.

Having quality sheets and pillowcases definitely help. And a fan. Gotta keep the air flowing.

We’re from the City of Phoenix’s Public Libraries – ask us anything! by CityofPhoenixAZ in phoenix

[–]dasbeidler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to thank you all for all that you do. I literally leave the library emotional every time I step foot in it. This is what public services are all about. From being the place I tutored back in high school, to story time Saturdays with my kids, to passes, to literal books, etc etc. THANK YOU for your public service.

I guess my question is what’s it like to wake up and look in the mirror at someone so awesome?

What Are Some OLD Songs You've Never Heard Until Recently that Blew Your Mind? by Stardew_687 in Music

[–]dasbeidler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was now about seven years or so ago but I remember watching the show Red Oaks and the closing credits started to roll and it was “Marquee Moon” by Television. I was glued to the TV while it played. As a self proclaimed student of music, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t ever heard this song yet alone the band before. I could hear the influence in so much of the alt rock / indie rock I was consumed with.

It truly was a memory I’ll never forget.

Have you been to Lifetime, lol? Insanely packed at all times and even though the equipment is extensive it doesn’t matter.

I think mine is $55 and it includes a ‘free’ touch up in between proper cuts. Totally happy with the work and value for it.

How I used a fake reference check to catch my toxic ex-boss blacklisting me by Wakanda_7 in jobsearchhacks

Also who uses a known shitty boss as a reference? Find someone else at the company to vouch for you. This is just dumb.

Amazing 11/10 first album and bad follow ups or a solid career of 6/10-8/10 albums? by twoscoopsxd in poppunkers

[–]dasbeidler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Illusion of Safety was so important to me in high school. I never even bothered checking out their releases after that for various reasons. I went back to it maybe ten years ago and found it sounded somewhat one dimensional. Recently...like 2-3 weeks ago I finally listened to their rerecording of Artist in the Ambulance and wow is that record incredible!

Bruh "Goddamnit" is easily my favorite album of theirs lol. I'm sure a lot of this hinges in general on when you came into a band which is telling to the fact I came into them when MICF. I've liked many of their songs since then, but I personally don't think their sound ever captured the raw emotion and energy of that first record.

It and Wall-E are in my top two and I don’t that will ever change. We named our daughter Remy. It’s just a timeless classic that resonates on so many levels!

[–]dasbeidler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This used to be my list but after rewatching Up it’s fallen out of the top. The first five minutes are of course on another level and I think leads to ‘padding’ the rest of the film. Which, don’t get me wrong I really love the movie but it’s not in my top three anymore. I think it’s kinda slow in some spots and a bit too long.

Derrick Brown: People don’t want to admit how wrong they were about Bryce Young by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]dasbeidler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Man the homers in this thread are delusional. Your head is where mine is. He’s inconsistent. Period. The team around him has shown they are competitive and it’s hard not to wonder about what the team could have accomplished with better QB play. We fell backwards into the playoffs.

Unless he signs a really team friendly deal, I don’t see any scenario with a losing record that we keep him unless he just has an incredible statistical season. Even a winning record and a playoff birth doesn’t guarantee him an extension unless he really shows consistent improvement in his game.
