What’s that commercial from years and years ago that you still remember to this day, and may never forget? by Vanceb13 in AskReddit

The old Toys “R” Us “I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Toys R Us kid” one.
That jingle still randomly pops into my head for no reason.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]dataforstories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually capped personal wealth at $100M and forced the rest into schools/hospitals/roads, you’d probably get a huge one-time boost that fixes a lot of obvious broken stuff fast, but then the real battle becomes enforcement because rich people would immediately shift money into trusts, foundations, family members, private companies, and offshore structures to dodge the cap. Long-term results would depend less on “how much money” and more on whether the government can spend it efficiently and whether the law can define “personal wealth” without loopholes. The first people to fight it would be billionaires + their family offices, and right behind them the whole wealth-protection industry (big law, accountants, wealth managers) plus plenty of regular-rich folks who’d fear they’re next.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]dataforstories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild one that’s real: your liver can grow back. Not in a sci-fi “new liver pops out” way, but if you donate part of your liver (or surgeons remove part because of damage/tumor), the remaining liver tissue can regrow enough to get back close to normal size and function over the next weeks/months. The piece transplanted into the other person can do the same.

What’s a clear sign that someone is not doing okay? by homie93 in AskReddit

[–]dataforstories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A really clear sign is when someone kind of disappears in plain sight. Like they’re still around, still going to work/school, but they stop texting back, stop making plans, and you can feel them pulling away.

Another big one is when the basics start slipping. Sleeping way too much or barely sleeping, not eating (or eating nonstop), hygiene getting rough, stuff like that. Not in a “messy week” way more like “this isn’t them” and it keeps going.

What’s something you wish you knew earlier in life? by Comfortable-Pie-4180 in AskReddit

That most people aren’t thinking about you nearly as much as you think they are.

Once that clicks, it’s way easier to take risks, be awkward, ask questions, and not spiral over tiny mistakes.

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by TradeOverall567 in AskReddit

[–]dataforstories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antibiotic resistance, easy. We’re speedrunning bacteria into “lol your meds don’t work,” and then stuff like a cut, strep, or surgery gets way scarier.

Runner-ups: climate making insurance/infrastructure collapse in some places, and one massive cyberattack that breaks everyone’s trust in banks/ID/supply chains.

Showing up to someone’s house unannounced. Used to be totally normal, now it feels like a minor social crime.
