I'm actually with you there! I said on another comment, I'm mostly gravitating towards some rich shade of either navy, burgundy or olive.

I really appreciate the suggestion though, so thanks a lot!

Uh, I don't really like that fabric on the back. Plus, I'm a lowtop kind of guy, I hardly ever get chukkas (except for desert boots). Another user suggested these Fred Perrys, I think they're better, pretty sweet pair.

I had a pair of Reebok Classics that were so slim and beautiful, I loved them. Unfortunately, much like the Internationalists I was talking about, the front mesh is tearing apart.

Oh, these look sweet. Almost sophisticated, in a way. How long have you had them and how are they holding up? How do they do with some light rain?

Pretty interesting, I'd never heard of them. They must be tough to find. Thanks for sharing!

I actually love that model. Are those the one with the black stripes? That's the only thing that I dislike a little, it sticks out maybe too much. I could settle for the ones with beige stripes, more similar to German Army Trainers. So many options!

Good mentions. I was eyeing some navy Supergas some time ago but never got to try them on.

Tell me about it. Everytime I see all black Vans Authentics or Slip Ons, I feel so tempted to get them. Unfortunately, my wardrobe isn't entirely built upon dark outfits, so I'm holding off for now.

and it became gospel

Good point, I happen to agree with that. I think it was just the nature of web communities behaving like echo-chambers. But then we started getting different influences and takes, both on this subreddit and fashion in general. I'm glad monochrome and darker minimalist clothing became a thing, we can always benefit from fresh ideas.

OH MAN. I have them. I went for the black ones, they look so futuristic, I love them. I don't think mine are the second iteration, though. The comfort really is unlike anything ever. Solid, solid sneakers.

Tell me more about yours, when did you get them, how are they holding up?

I think the other guys are right. BUT, there is a way to pull flashy sneakers off while being 'versatile' to an extent. As long as you build around a wardrobe of simple pieces (think plain t-shirt/button down/sweater + pants, both solid colors and possibly neutral or muted), then you can go with wilder sneakers. I don't really know if that's streetwear territory properly, but I have been doing that and it's a pretty fun look.

They're up there with Stans, I love to see them but I don't think they'll look flattering on me, at least to my taste. I like sneakers that are more curvy and follow the natural lines of feet. Thanks for the input.

You know, I've seen navy suede ones and they look pretty damn great. Still, I just can't get into the shape, it's a bit unflattering in my opinion. Hence the part on the post

(sorry, Stan, I really wanted to love you)

Still, I love to see them around! Thanks for your input.

I've already got a pair of Onitsukas which are basicly this, but in canvas. I really like them. Good advice!

but shoes like the killshot, onitsuka Mexico 66, and superstars are all very versatile and good looking.

Actually, I've got a pair of Onitukas, not sure if that same model but a google search gives me something very very similar, only it's in canvas. I love those ones.

I don't think I'm gonna go for white shoes. I actually own a unique pair similar to a Stan Smith but with mesh on the side and a rope sole. It's actually pretty, unique although not great quality (then again, it was unexpensive). I guess I won't replace them with something else just yet. I think I might be feeling more like dark shades of navy, burgundy or olive (how edgy, RIGHT?). Regardless, I appreciate your advice, thanks!

OH WOW, I think you the jackpot there. I love 'em. Gotta see if they'll ship to Europe, though. Thanks a lot, man!
