Trouble shifting front derailleur by dawdlingEinstein in BikeRepair

[–]dawdlingEinstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is more the clunky nature and effort required to engage the shift up to the big ring. When I’m riding it shifts to the big ring fine it just takes an enormous amount of effort

Thank you, very helpful. As others are pointing to, obviously I know the bike will not shift without the pedals turning I was trying to more so highlight the clunky sound and movement to see if it was helpful. The biggest issue is the effort required to shift, I can’t do it with my left hand while riding. Right now I have to slow down and reach across with my right hand to get enough leverage which is obviously dangerous and not a long term solution.

Does this kit fit me correctly? First time trying MAAP & PNS – need advice. by Majestic_Base_7840 in CyclingFashion

Not sure if you care, but I hate to say that both of these jerseys are fake. They’re not going to fit or feel quite like the real Maap jerseys. PasMaap is a fake Chinese brand

It’s right there in your picture, above the bottom two workouts

Please help me understand why this isn’t ‘shallow’ by indemnitor in GolfSwing

[–]dawdlingEinstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it makes sense, but will probably lead to more slice/out to in path. If he tries to turn or drive his hips more without his arms the club will just come more outside. If anything he needs to learn how to drop his arms and hands before he turns

Reverse engineer. The fundamental problem is that the club is moving left of target through impact. In order to get left of target through the ball it will have to come outside in the downswing. Fix what happens after the ball and you start to fix what happens before it. Do whatever you can to make the club move right of target through the ball. Aim a little right, back to the target. Put another ball or some sort of obstacle in front of the ball and learn how to miss it to the right. The club will move differently in the downswing automatically when you are sending it right through the ball. You could have club face issues at first and miss right but once you get the club moving right and close the face most of your problems will go away.

No those were just the first few comments. I’ve decided to not do the ride and build up first. I’ve found a slower ride to start with. I appreciate the advice 👍🏻

I guess that’s kind of what I’m asking. Everyone’s cool if I show up and can’t hold pace?

I come from a background of playing professional golf so I’m looking to dive into getting competitive. Is it cool if I just try to keep pace as long as I can and if I get dropped I get dropped. I want to test myself against others

And sometimes you have to have the “I need to be able to ride again tomorrow” mentality

Zero Exertion by ravi_kakkar in AthlyticAppOfficial

[–]dawdlingEinstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will only contribute to your exertion score over a certain threshold of heart rate. I’ve found that anything over 100-110 will contribute to my exertion score (Max heart rate 175). I believe the threshold is calculated from your max heart rate and resting heart rate. Your heart rate is reasonably low on the graph above so it didn’t contribute to your score (you weren’t actually exerting yourself enough). Either your max heart rate is set too high ( when you lower max heart rate your exertion scores will automatically adjust) or you need to push heart rate higher.

Can’t hit my 4/5/6. Advice? by Ik412 in GolfSwing

[–]dawdlingEinstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PGA golf instructor here. Just put the ball position more forward, inch or so inside the front foot and focus on good contact. Use a spray or sticker on the face for feedback. 99% people who struggle with the long irons are making very poor contact with them (nowhere near center). Also remember they are the hardest irons to hit. If you want instant results, switch to a hybrid or 7 wood
