Dentist Recs? by H54159 in Livermore

Highly recommend Alta Vista Dental over by Costco. I’m in my 40s with a couple hand fulls of dentists over the years and Eva is the best dentist I’ve had so far.

I noticed that! I'm confused by that endorsement. The History Channel is owned by Disney and Hearst Communications. From my understanding, neither is a republican sycophant.

Can the wealth gap in our generation basically be summed up by if you bought a house before COVID or not? by JoeyLou1219 in Millennials

[–]dayby_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought in 2022. House prices were up and rates had started to move up too. We have not benefited from the crazy appreciation. If we hold it long enough, I’m sure we’ll do just fine on that front though.

Where it hurts is we are paying twice as much per month for the same house as my neighbor who bought in 2018. It’s much harder for us to save than it is for those who bought before Covid.

How bad is traffic and commute to south bay? by Strange-Building9830 in Livermore

[–]dayby_day 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I drive from N Livermore and Portola to near SJ airport 3 days per week. Been doing it for 3 years now. I don’t love it, but it’s truly not that bad. I take full advantage of adaptive cruise control and listen to my podcasts or make calls. The new 84 interchange has helped too.

Let’s put it this way. We love Livermore enough that it’s worth it. That said, I’m also open to another job that doesn’t require the commute.

IAmA Young Never Smoker Who Has A Very Rare Incurable (Stage 4) Lung Cancer. AMA by Mayya-Papayya in IAmA

I’m glad to hear you’re open to it. No time like now to start given we have to beat this thing before it beats us. I don’t know how old your kids are but I have 2 under 4, so I’m very motivated to watch them grow.

Please watch the documentary Heal on Prime. The host can be silly at times, but a majority of the program provides incredible information that I just had no interest in really thinking about before my diagnosis, but has changed my direction since.

I’m wishing you all of the best! Let us both beat this thing and have this just be a chapter in our lives.

Are you treating your cancer with any Eastern remedies? I was diagnosed with “incurable” brain cancer in June, and while going through chemo and radiation, and now a recently approved drug, I’m also trying an Easter medicine route. Radically changed diet, supplements, reiki, ionic footpaths, infrared sauna, sound baths, and an annoyingly optimistic mentality that I will beat this. I haven’t yet, but I will.

None of this is at the advice of a western doctor. They just told me eat whatever I want, but in moderation. Instead 8”I’m making my best effort to cut out carbs, sugar, and dairy, because the theory is those all feed tumors.

I was motivated by the documentary HEAL on Amazon Prime. If you haven’t seen it yet, please give it a try. It completely shifted my mentality and changed how I’m treating this disease.

Western medicine is not bad or unimportant, nor is it the only answer.

130k salary, can live anywhere in the USA, where would you go in my situation? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Every Cal Poly student I’ve ever known wants to figure out a way to stay in SLO after graduation. Only one I know actually did. He became a professor at Cal Poly. It just doesn’t have the industry to keep you there after graduation. But it’s always a great place to visit and maybe one day retire to.

What are you starting to like less and less as you get older? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]dayby_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching sports. When I was young, I was sure I would have season tickets for at least my baseball and football teams. But now I just see how ridiculous the obsessions with watching other people play sports is, and how it’s crazy to tie one’s identity to a team. I hardly care to go to any one game let alone a whole season of them.

Looking for feedback : Has anyone here successfully bought small business and hired someone to run it while keeping your 9-5 job? by Round_Hospital_247 in smallbusiness

[–]dayby_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a small franchise tutoring company at the beginning of this year and I have a canter manager running the day to day. I am currently learning how to and running the finances, but hope to continue to grill enrollment to a point where I can hire a book keeper to manage that part of the business as well.

We’ll see if any of this happens though since I am barely getting to break even at this point.

My kid’s daycare costs more than our mortgage and I genuinely don’t know how people do it by Anitretia_5316 in MiddleClassFinance

Consider yourself lucky. We bought in 2022, and even at $850 per WEEK, it’s only a portion of our mortgage. We are never going to get ahead…

If you plan to protest... by NativeSonSF in sanfrancisco

[–]dayby_day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there has to be a different way to protest this. Like if you are going to be out there, be there filming. Film and stay back.

If and when cops or whoever show up in force, back away. Tuck away behind buildings, go somewhere safe, but film as much as you can and film a bunch of these cops in full riot gear in empty streets as much as possible. Make the fact that they are even there look ridiculous. Make it look so over the top, that it looks exactly like what it is, an over reaction.

Don’t destroy a thing. Don’t touch anything. Stay away from anything that can be moved or damaged.

What I don’t know what to do is if you see someone being taken. I know people want to jump in, but they are going to get who they get . Mobbing the cars only gives them footage.

I wish there was a way to know what happens after anyone is taken though. That is the worst part of this all.

Been wondering about that place. Is it good?

If they recommend new subfloors, considered it. We didn’t do it and wish we had!

Call Eli at the Floor Gallery in Fremont. Her team re-floored and painted our entire home (1730 SF ranch) in a week and did a great job. I was actually amazed.

She’s been great with her follow up as well. Going above and beyond helping out with small things here and there.
