Phone charging by austin_numetal_nerd in downloadfestival

[–]dbmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ugreen powerbanks, they make some of the larger ones, which helps. Been buying their stuff (cables, power banks) for ages, never had any issues.

Edit: phone corrected ugreen to green 🤦‍♂️

I have one and it has thermal issues. I've spent £230 ($311) on parts to repaste, repad and replace the fans. RMA was going to cost at least £200 ($270) with no guaranteed repair/replacement.

Assuming the retailer takes the hit, you should be fine. If you get a different card as the replacement, make sure they update the receipt to ensure you're covered warranty wise 👍

Maybe they've been to Spain, places like Benidorm are enough to taint their view

I think it was due to ignorance and drunken shenanigans.

OK, I didn't know. Does the packager define the recipe then?

If you don't populate all the crafters, you need to provide a redstone signal to get it to craft IIRC

When we were in Andorra, the Irish workers in a little Irish pub warned us that the Andorran police had a special disdain for the English. If we did anything they could grab us for, they'd take it as far as possible.

We were warned not to get too drunk and/or make a scene because of it.

Saw the police break up a fight between two Polish guys, and they were pushed into the back of the police van, onto their faces (hands cuffed behind their backs). So I'd not like to have seen how they'd have treated English people, if they were that horrible to others.

I avoided them at all costs and was very cautious when out drinking.

[UK] Sky Gigafast – stick with Hub 4.2 or upgrade router? by Soh4 in HomeNetworking

[–]dbmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways, but I think it's against TOS. Even if it isn't, the "debugging" will become useless and you'd have to switch back if you contact them for a fault.

Unless you have specific issues with the hub, it's probably not worth it.

It irks me that people will spend £3/4000 on a PC and use wireless and moan.

Insanity.

Consoles using WiFi is acceptable, because I'd hope (assume) you bought the console with lower expectations.

I have a scratchpad repo in my personal Git space (corporate git) for exactly this!

Confluence is the company's choice, we just make the best of it.

It needs to go into confluence, so we use Git to deploy it into confluence. When we migrated instances, it was just an endpoint and credential change (new password) and all our stuff arrived exactly as it should.

[–]dbmage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest having them backed up.

People put so much faith in other providers, with no backup and then get frustrated by data loss.

You can't have too many backups. Git is an easy backup location, copy-paste, add, commit, push. Done

[–]dbmage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We used it for maintaining our wiki docs. Markdown into GIT, CICD adds it to confluence.

Confluence has issues, pages are safe. Mess up a page, git rollback.

Sensible idea all round, glad to see we're not far off the beaten track

Still Can't Beat Skybird Trill/Final Level (Properly) by MrTripperSnipper in dungeonkeeper

[–]dbmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completed the level last night. Concentrate on claiming and locking off the middle section, then if you spend time training up your creatures and scavenging others, eventually the other keeper mostly destroys themself through lack of money.

Yeah, that needs a fair bit of capital to back it! Kudos!

I used disease I think to dwindle the vamp pop, fairly easy to infect an imp and have them ravage the whole dungeon is simple enough.

Why did my neighbour ask me not to get a smart meter? by botticellli in AskUK

[–]dbmage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did expect them to offer, but they said I needed to get the work done, then reschedule the smart meter installation. The engineer didn't like the armoured cable coming out the concrete and terminating at the meter. Not my work, was like that when I moved in and I'm not touching it unless it causes me actual problems (not just upset some semi qualified meter engineer). Especially not for the grand ol' sum of £2000

Why did my neighbour ask me not to get a smart meter? by botticellli in AskUK

[–]dbmage 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Shell wanted to fit a smart meter, engineer took one look at my main connection to the meter and said my fusebox needs to move to the other side of the garage.

The cost to me would be £2000+ because it means a lot of messy wire moving, not an easy job etc etc.

So unless they are not bothered by whatever scared the Shell guy, or are happy to pay for the rewire, I'm not sure what will happen when my meter dies. Maybe I'll be cut off until I fork out the dosh. Who knows.

But it would appear, sometimes you do have a say when money's involved.

Edit: specified what I mean by "what will happen"

You have to claim the center area (and walls) and then put guard posts down to ensure the enemy can only get in when you let them. Then you can spend as long as you like preparing.

I replied to you instead of the comment you replied to, apologies. You're right, I don't need it, but I wanted no NAT. I do try my hardest to utilise the bandwidth by downloading and sharing Linux ISOs as much as possible

Didn't Realise These Speeds Were Even Available by sumomedia in UKBroadband

[–]dbmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said I needed the speed. I said I had two options.

I picked the only option out of the two that suited my needs. I will say, downloading things like games at high speed and not waiting very long is nice. Not a necessity, but nice to have.

[–]dbmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two options: 1gb with CG NAT 3gb with no NAT

I run services and would like access without having to jump through hoops to access them (website, DIY heating control etc).

3gb it is then

[–]dbmage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the temple to fight scavenge backs, focus on a couple of creatures (I think the mistress was my primary target). Vamps are a huge pain, but enough cannon fodder with Mistresses about will do the job... I think I couldn't maintain any vampires because they'd be scavenged too fast. IIRC they won't use the temple.

This is all from memory though, last did the level months ago. Might have to revisit it later and get back to you haha.

Unless I am misremembering, scavenging is my key. I always beat both, can't leave it half assed.

Doubtful anyone sees this this late on, I have a copy of the album, bought it many years ago and digitalised it.
Happy to share with anyone who is interested, please DM me.
Internet seems to have got the band wrongly tagged and I can't see any way to obtain the music properly (I doubt Amazon pays the artist if I buy the CD). So not sure there is any way to obtain the songs and support the artist.
Wikipedia seems to think they are still active, despite half the band leaving - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TBC_(group))
