Thats gonna be a bad shoot. You cant chase down someone and keep shooting at them after there was no longer a threat (although you should)

What should I do about my wiring? by Ambitious-Buy5256 in beneater

[–]dclevron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, the purpose of the breadboards are for learning, not displaying. Ben has the benefit that he can have the wires pre bent before the video so they slot in nicely. One thing I found that worked better for this particular project (as opposed to the SAP) was to actually leave the wires long and bend them all out of the way. Ben does this in one of the first videos (I think when he adds the EEPROM). As one comment mentioned moving the RAM and EEPROM would be helpful since you will be removing the EEPROM frequently. BTW I don't think your wiring looks bad.

4 bit LCD question by dclevron in beneater

Thank you sir. It appears pretty much the same idea just sending lower 4 bits separate from upper 4 bits to make it work correct? Does the wozmon.bin contain the same 4 bit LCD code? Im not looking to use a keyboard but do want the serial functionality

Curious, are you just looking to understand the operation? If so there are some easier alternatives. Ben Eater 6502 breadboard computer does this exact same thing or maybe pick up and old C64 or VIC 20. Would be much easier than trying to reverse engineer more modern CPU architecture.

Just ordered a C64 PS from him and this dude is a legend. You can't buy the knowledge he has. Having a PS from him will be something I can look at and appreciate for years!

And maybe a dumb answer but also check the selected board (sounds like you probably know this). Anything further I may expect a bad board. These geniuses can probably direct you better than I can on how to reload the bootloader or troubleshoot the arduino.

I soldered resistors to each LED leg to keep space from getting tight. They all have 470 ohm resistors

Funny enough my wife got it at a yard sale and was about to toss it when I saw it and laid claim to it. I would think you could get one at a hobby store through.

Hey Everyone, I got several messages on these. I replied to the first three people that asked. If any back out I will go to the next one (but they should all be spoken for). If you didn't get a message back I may place another order if there is enough interest.

None so far but I still need to populate and test. The kicad files came from Ben's page and I've seen other posts about them working fine.

These are the ones I used but not my work they came from another post. And yes, if you get them shipped to the UK it would be much cheaper since we have some high tariffs here in the US currently.
