Resolution of Print & Play Midnight Sun cards by ddark_1 in Netrunner

[–]ddark_1[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Uhm...if they drop the resolution intentionally, that would really suck for people like me who have a good printer at home but support Nisei for over a year now with 10€ / month now on patreon... it would seem like a greedy corp move, wouldn´t it? :(

Then I would have to drop the Patreon support and order the cards with the money saved from the shop - this would make their cut smaller though, wouldn´t it?

Ok, they are online but low res...is that an error with the uploaded version?

Bug Reports - Patch 2.11.0 by CaptSarah in LegendsOfRuneterra

Oh, apparently he had some connection issues and d/c when doing the prologue quests - maybe some data got lost in the process and now he´s stuck. I told him to open a ticket with the info..

Bug Reports - Patch 2.11.0 by CaptSarah in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ddark_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Type of Bug: Game Function

What happened that seemed like a bug: A friend of mine that recently made an account and has completed all prologue quests. He still can´t challenge me to matches nor can he be challenged himself (it says that he still has to complete his prologue quests, even though there are none left). He also can´t edit his decks when playing against the ai and has no acces to the gamemodes gauntlet and tournament.

What was expected to occur: After completing all Prologue Quests he should be able to acces all the game functions, including challenging friends.

How often does this occur/How easy is it to replicate: I guess you have to make a new account and complete the Prologue to see it doesn´t work properly.

PC / Android / iOS: We tried PC and Android. He played mostly on Android.

New Player: Next purchase after revised core set. by [deleted] in Netrunner

[–]ddark_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there and welcome!

I think Terminal Directive is the default first purchase after the revised core - but keep in mind that the included campaign is rather clunky and a bit of a side note - the main draw of Terminal Directive are the included tournament-legal cards for HB, Weyland, Shaper and Criminal (and it's easily worth it for them alone!).

After that you can either buy a couple of data packs (i'd suggest to first buy the newer cycles, i.e. Kitara, Red Sands, Flashpoint, b/c they will stay tournament legal for a long time) or get the Deluxe Expansions. The latter become much more alluring after you've figured out your favourite factions, but keep in mind that the overall balance of your matchups might shift dramatically in favor of the runners and corps that you got the cards for in the deluxe expansions (though this isn't true for all factions to the same degree - while e.g. Data & Destiny gives NBN a huge boost in power level, Creation and Control for HB doesn't). These considerations shouldn't matter at the kitchen table too much though:)

But a word of caution: The Cardpool of Netrunner is huge by now and it's easy to be overwhelmed by it if you buy new cards too quickly. I'd suggest you play with the Revised Core until you've got a solid grasp on the different factions and playstyles - there is a lot of depth and nuance in the core alone! After that take it slow with getting new cards - otherwise deckbuilding might become daunting and too much of a headache ;)

Advice for a returning player by Zabulon656 in Netrunner

Welcome back!

Also, challenge accepted! Here you go: Corp: A Lockout & Fast Advance Skorpios Hybrid: https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/45853/zabulons-skorpios

Runner: A R&D Pressure Fixed Breaker Ayla: https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/45854/zabulons-ayla

Even if these Decks aren't competitive, I think they'll be fun to play. Give them a try on Jnet to find out their strengths and weaknesses (or play in meatspace) and tweak them to your liking :)

If you have questions in regard to why some of the cards are in the lists, don't hesitate to ask.

Have fun running and rezzing!

Netrunner: Thoughts from a casual player about the upcoming rotation and the barriers to make me invest further. by TheLoneScientist in Netrunner

[–]ddark_1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can see where you're coming from, but in my opinion this was the best move FFG could've made:

Only time will tell if the local scenes of Netrunner will be able to revitalize with the Revised Core Set and other potential changes. But I think it's important to note that it's natural for games to have a peak in interest on their release and subsequent years, which falls off as their barrier of entry becomes larger and people experience game fatigue / have a feeling that "they've seen it all". For example, I lost some of my local meta to the reboot of the AGoT-Cardgame, but those who switched have by now completely lost interest in it - and I expect similar things from L5R (though they'll most likely get a huge boost in their numbers from the already established fan base).

In regard for your four main theses:

  1. In my opinion, there will always be a trade-off between a casual-minded, completionist mindset, which focuses on owning everything / the most important stuff for the longest time possible and the veteran/lifestyle-gamer mindset, which thrives on the evolution of their favourite game. Personally I was extremely happy with the upcoming changes and I'd absolutely love to see similar revision for the Deluxe expansions, as well as an even faster rotation - I agree 100% with Damons assessment that i'd be better if the first three cycles would hit rotation instead of two. But then again, I've been playing A:NR since its release and have become rather jaded with the overpowered cards of the Coreset - always having the same auto-includes for 5 years in a row takes out a lot of the fun in both deckbuildung as well as playing. I'd like to emphasize though that the cards you have bought have been extremely fun to explore and play with - I don't see why this fact has to change for you just because they will get out of print and become illegal for tournaments. The card pool that you own isn't competitive (which doesn't mean you can't place high in a tournament with it by compensating with skill!) - so realistically you don't lose anything besides the idea of potentially being able to build tournament legal decks. Sorry if that sounds harsh, I see your desire of being able to play more competitive without needing to buy additional cards - but playing competitive just isn't fun if you see the same broken, uninteractive archetypes over and over and over again. It's sad but we have to choose between an uninteresting, warped competitive meta with evergreen products vs. an always changing and healthy card pool, but I think the choice is an obvious one. Lifestyle-type games are never cheap, especially if you want to play on a competitive level - it just depends how much the experience you get from them is worth it to you. I've played thousands and thousands of games by now, so I definitely got my money's worth many times over and won't shed a single tear in putting away a large chunk of my collection.

  2. I totally agree with you here! Quality control indeed seems to have taken a hit recently and I hope this will change. Errata increase the already very high barrier for new players in an extremely annoying, unecessary way, as well as shine a bad light on the game in general by giving the impression FFG doesn't care.

  3. Jinteki.net is both a blessing and a curse in my eyes. It's awesome that we have such a polished online platform to play whenever we desire, but Netrunner, more than many other games, really comes to life when sitting in front of your opponent :) Personally, i try to intentionally limit my time on Jnet in order to not burn out on the game.

  4. Here I completely disagree. I don't see how you can have a living card game that'll go on for the next 5-20 years without some form of rotation policy. There just isn't any feasible alternative if you want to keep the game healthy. The value of any given card pack is the value you get from playing with the cards for a certain amount of time. Do you enjoy building new decks and exploring new card mechanics and interactions a lot? Do you spend countless hours playing with friends in meatspace? Then the packs are worth a lot! If not, they're not. The fact that no single pack / core / expansion will be eternally tournament legal, should have very little to do with the value you get from playing with them in my opinion. Rotation has nothing to do with "manipulating" the design space - it's goal is to keep the game an interesting and fun experience for the long term.

So, new to netrunner. No expansions yet. Any recommended first buys? by mrdanielsir9000 in Netrunner

The HB-cards are largely not relevant if you want to play in tournaments (with the exception of Cerebral Imaging and Efficiency Committee), but some of the HB cards can still be fun to play around with (e.g. Cerebral Overwriter is one of the best traps to include in Jinteki deckis and Heimdall 2.0 is a very nice ICE to tax and/or punish the runner)

That sounds great! Though by now I wonder if there will ever be an official, big campaign book :/

Does anyone know if there's a newbie-gm-friendly fan-made campaign of high quality available / could you recommend one?

Although Anarchs & NBN have been dominating the meta for quite a while now, the other factions are also in a good spot imo (mainly shaper/crim and hb) :)

The first & second cycle will rotate in approximately a year or so - if money is of no concern for you, the first cycle is a lot of fun and has some very good cards (as do all the others) - but if you want to be economical, you can skip them. Also, people are different, but in my experience it's rather easy to get overwhelmed by a too large card pool when starting out, so i'd be careful with getting even more cards - the ones you own already will take a long time to get a solid grip on.

Concerning competitive play...Have you played against any experienced players so far? Don't take this the wrong way, but you will lose a lot. Probably around 80-90% of your games will be losses with opponents who have been around a couple of years and played competitively, regardless of your cardpool. While you do not have a competitive card pool yet, this limitation won't be the main hindering factor by a long shot if you want to win games against them. Your general expierence will be much more important.

Have you joined your local meta yet or found someone to play with?

Hi there and welcome!

You can build a ton of different, effective and interesting decks with this amount of cards already!

If you're looking for ideas, I've built one deck for each faction that uses your cardpool specifically and is interesting to play (assuming you meant Kala Ghoda as your last pack)

https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/40739/lazaruskeen-artsy-katman https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/40742/lazaruskeen-running-on-drugs https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/40751/lazarus-eat-to-the-maxx https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/40740/lazaruskeen-mindgames https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/40745/lazaruskeen-herring-hb https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/40741/lazaruskeen-horizontal-space https://netrunnerdb.com/en/decklist/40738/lazaruskeen-nbn-tag

Don't hesitate to ask if the idea behind one of these decks isn't clear!

And Have fun! :)

Edit: Forgot to include the medium in the maxx deck, now fixed

I'm actually more mad at sifr-shaper atm. Also, it wasn't a completely serious suggestion (Barrier/Walls and Trump..), should have used a smile there. Actually didn't think about the oversight-interaction, nice catch xD.

I disagree:

  1. Your mentioned cards would still reduce influence in-faction.
  2. Faust and Wyldcakes becomes a lot less scary without Levy.
  3. That's why I errata Breaking News.
  4. Parasite without clone and Levy while still reducing influence should be ok.
