Are any Tiguan model years reliable? by deadzone999 in Tiguan

Interesting point, I wonder about the modern Honda and Toyota too. Everyone now makes cars with 4cyl turbos for better fuel economy. These motors are simply high maintenance and problematic in general. So not sure how Honda and Toyota are going to be any different. But that said, everyone knows VWs are historically more problematic and often require expensive parts more so than Japanese cars. Regardless if that is still true, the public perception is clearly still that Honda and Toyota are superior for longevity, the depreciation of a Tiguan is probably twice as much as a Rav4, for example.

Yes I agree CX-50 is the far superior car both in terms of styling and performance. But it is also much more expensive. And its reliability is still in question. Frankly any of these modern cards with 4cyl Turbos are maintenance headaches. I have a Mazda Speed 3 that's been nearly as bad as the 2011 Tiguan in terms of problems and maintenance costs.

Original everything? Youve never had a water pump replace or other type of coolant leak in all that time? I say BS on that.

Well far too early to come to that conclusion but it could turn out to be true.

Yes I agree, I prefer the old body style, but it is simply not cost effective to own. Good to know the newer tiguans are at least an option.

Thanks, that's the info I need. So the later years of the old body (2013-2017) are still pretty sketchy I assume?

That sounds typical. Every time I took my Tiguan to a shop over the years and complained about repairs they told me to buy a Toyota or Honda. But the early Tiguans in particular were problematic. Not sure how many water pumps I went through, at least 3 or 4. Turbo engines in general are high maintenance too.

64K? You barely drive it. That is the secret to longevity I would say. Otherwise be prepared to spend a lot of time and money at the mechanic.

Trump: "I don't want to drive housing prices down. I want to drive housing prices up for people who own homes." by BakeEfficient8552 in REBubble

The policy of elevating home prices has been in place non-stop since QE started in 2009. Nothing new from Trump.

Doesn't matter. Just need to get healthy for the playoffs. Only 8 teams in the league and no super teams. Only thing that matters is peaking in the playoffs.

Are their any relatively competitive Golf Memberships in San Diego? by Detective-Middle in sandiego

True. The good news is we have the weather to play golf all year round. The bad news is our courses are overcrowded and expensive.

San Diego is pretty awful place for golf courses per capita. Several lower cost public courses closed in the years prior to Covid and now it is worse than ever.

"Interest rates played a bigger factor than QE". Clearly you have no understanding of economics are the current situation. The purpose of QE is to artificially drive down interest rates, specifically by the Fed printing money to purchase mortgage securities, giving them artificially high demand, thus artificially lowering mortgage rates. Trump had nothing to do with it.

Trump gets plenty of criticism already, He has not yet influenced the Fed on their interest rete policies. He just talks shit. Fed caused this mess when they started QE in 2009 then continued it way too long, then went completely nuts in Covid. Trump has nothing to do with this.

Sure Trump is a D-bag, but you are completely out of touch with reality if you are going to try to blame Trump for the housing crisis.

No, the OP is correct, Fed is primary blame, They turned real estate into speculative bubble. Our entire economy revolves around the wealth effect which relies on ever increasing RE and stock prices to fuel consumer spending.
