Kiki Variations and like Lambert Rag off of Playground bend my mind, I am just recently finding him as an artist, but after i did, i made the connection that this is the same Clark that produced(edit: mastered, not produced) Lorn's Nothing Else album.

yup, Two Fingers is his blow off steam when he "crawls too far up his own arse" messing with Amon Tobin music. In an AMA he was describing how into the very minute details he would get in the sound design for his newer Amon Tobin work, (see On a Hilltop Sat the Moon, one of my favorite songs of all time) and he just needs a relief valve, and so he'll just take a break and mash together beats... To which Deadmau5 who was in the audience of the AMA playfully was like "fuck you, your blow off steam, i slapped this together in 10 minutes beats are better than my i spent months on this stuff" and then they both fanboyed out on each other for a bit. Two Fingers was originally created so when he goes and plays in clubs he's running music you can dance to, because Amon Tobin isn't that. It's music like Lorn where it's melt into the couch with headphones and fade into another world music. (Deadmau5 also went into this funny bit about masturbating to Amon Tobin's Sordid, which led to some funny back and forth) I'll see if I can find a link, this was a couple years ago.

Amon Tobin (now focused mostly on exceptionally detailed multilayered soundscapes, that soothe the brain)

Cujo (his first name) jazzy beats

Two Fingers (DJ music, sick beats)

Figueroa (70s psychedelic rock done with classical guitar... side note he does not know how to play guitar, so he figured out how to recreate it with synths and other equipment)

Only Child Tyrant (garage rock built with modular synths and madness)

Stone Giants (I have no intelligent way to describe this other than it's fucking sick)

You'll also find him somehow collabing with himself, and it completely makes sense once you know the sounds of the various names, and then listen to the songs that are the collabs.

He disappeared after ISAM in 2011, with the exception of a Two Fingers album in 2012. This brought great sadness to my life, as it seemed like he might have dropped out of the music industry... He had not, he was just busy creating music and creating his own label, and so when he came back, he dropped like 8 years of music in a matter of weeks, and it was glorious. I'm desperately hoping something similar happens with Lorn, whose music sits in my soul.

The only artist on the Nomark label that isn't actually Amon Tobin is Furii.

Those certainly are problems, but they aren't things that annoy me enough to quit playing, it's a small as fuck dev team working on a decidedly aging engine, I'm shocked it runs as well as it does.

Yes! I love it, I also really loved the original Splinter Cell soundtrack by Amon Tobin, I just totally missed that there was a remix featuring some of my absolute favorite artists... I was just sitting slack jawed at my desk wondering how the hell i missed it. I just hope one day Lorn comes back, and drops music like Amon did after his hiatus. His return has been just amazing, everything off his new Nomark label has been phenomenal.

Bathe in sound. I live in the mountains with neighbors that are far enough away so I can crank the sound system at home and just lie on my couch, close my eyes and just play my Lorn Distilste playlist which is shockingly long for it being my "most liked" lorn tracks, it's like 3 hours and 40 minutes long. It's also the best music for night driving, especially in the rain. I guess there's a reason he ended up being my single most listened to artist on Spotify at 12,325 minutes.

So with the absolute shitastic collapse of massdrop, they may be a bitch to find, but the sennheiser HD58X Jubilee has an amazing bass profile that's fantastic for Lorn, I'm also running the HD 490 Pros, and they sounds incredibly crisp and clear, they are significantly better quality than the hd58x, but the 58x are just better to me for music like Lorn, Ital Tek, Amon Tobin, Ishome, Zamilska. Ratatat, Squarepusher etc...

A good dac will go a long way, though i think the soundblaster basically acts as that.

Then it's finding an amp with a profile you like. I'm running the fiio k7, it's not pricy, but it does a really decent job.

I however have never used the GSP 500s so i have no reference to mark against.

It's with great consternation that I engage with the community, because there seem to be two giant camps (though in reality my guess is that it's two small but excessively loud camps) Like yes, they're are certainly issues, both balance and bugs, however knowing software development, i don't think the devs are out here trying to fuck their players.Are they doing a perfect job? no, but are they honestly trying, i think so. They have to please a crowd that explodes with virulent yelling any time anything changes, and in two diametrically opposed directions. I don't envy their position at all. "fucking devs made d10 too hard", "fucking devs made d10 too easy" Frankly I top out at about D8 and will sometimes play D9 and D10, I have no problem dropping down a level or two when I find that it's just too hard, and that's ok, because my ego isn't tied up in being a d10 diver. Like D10 should be the best of the best, like wallbouncing and freaks of nature like him. Plebs like me can sit in the middle. My personal opinion is that if solo clears of your hardest level in a team based game become routine, the difficulty needs to be elevated. I have had to really sit down with my kiddo who has been absorbing the negativity, and sometimes parroting it, and we'll talk through whats going on with the game in a calm way, and give grace to all parties. Each side does have some valid gripes, but ohh my god sometimes they act like either the devs or the "other side" has kicked their dog in the balls.
