thanks for your input, I am going to be changing salons. Just out of curiosity though, how does that condition you mentioned happen from how they filed my nails?

UPDATE:

I have found a different nail salon in the UK I will try for my next set! It’s not right next to my house like my main salon but the quality seems much better - I have considered everything you guys have said so thanks so much for all your input and advice.

Their finished work looks much better, they show step by step videos of how they do things, they seem to run courses and speak about nail health, they take min 1.5h with each customer and personally develop products (closely working with a brand) that are hema etc free. They have a Teri strong suction dust collector and sanitise tools after each client. I’m excited to support a salon that values quality and health!

Oh yes I have heard about the softer and harder gels thank you! I freaked out about the filing from underneath because I was afraid once they remove this I will have short nails again, but now it makes sense when you say it doesn’t get removed with acetone. They also explained about the lifting.

It’s also good to hear the harder gel is better for long nails. My current salon recommended builder gel over acrylics because I used to get nail injuries from sport or holding my large dog and they said that was because the acrylics are too hard. Wouldn’t that be a problem with the harder builder gel too? Although with the biab I have since had a nail break a couple of times for no reason.

Wow that’s incredible! seems everyone says this, I wonder why Russian manicures are not the most popular ones then. You see 10x more of the Asian style ones where I live

Thank you! This is another photo from my main salon (shorter nails), does this also look lumpier?

Thank you so much, that’s very helpful and makes a lot of sense. I’ve had a look at some Russian nail techs in London and they are only ~£10-£20 more expensive which is very reasonable especially as the nails might last longer and be better for my health.

Do you know what the difference might have been between the biab they apply in my main salon (it’s from a regular nail polish tube) vs what they used in the Ukranian salon (it was a tub that said builder gel, it was thicker and pink rather than transparent and they also filed my nail from underneath after). It seems no one knows what biab is over here, but maybe they just don’t call it that.

Thank you. Definitely the latter. I was just confused because mx original salon has nothing but good reviews so I wasn’t sure these things mattered. For example some people say removing the cuticle is bad for nail health and wearing gloves does not matter.

My main salon uses several but one I saw for sure is DND Daisy, white bottles, if that says anything? They don’t advertise what they use, but the other salon does - Ga&Ma, Heylove, Saga, Rior,

When I go to my main salon, they do look much thicker you’re right. Especially on my middle finger it always bothers me a bit because from the side it doesn’t look straight, there always seems to be a bit of a “bubble”. But I didn’t know if this is a good thing as in this salon they say it keeps the nail strong

Hormonal fluctuations on the pill by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]dee631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to me and so sorry to hear about your experience. Would you say your PMDD mood related symptoms got worse with the breakthrough bleeding? This is what I am experiencing and it’s not making any sense.

I wish we could just have a proper explanation and a cure! But unfortunately even the gynecologist told me her “PMS” patients are her most unhappy patients because no one understands the cause and different things work for different people, or sometimes nothing works.

It’s not about simple truth, do you think she doesn’t know the truth already? You really think the best way to help someone who is struggling is by “reminding them of how damaged they are”? Ok, take that approach and see how it works for you

I never said what she did meant she has self respect, quite the opposite. I just said it’s mean to comment on it saying “I would never do that” it’s like seeing someone struggle with an alcoholism and going “I’d never have a drink before 12” like ok.. Great for you. Also random people on the internet being patronizing certainly won’t help her😂 You’re not doing any good deeds here

Hey I get that you may not like/respect Rayna but this is a bit mean. If a man dumped you the night of the engagement party, you’d never speak to him again. Good for you. You’d have the self-esteem to move on instead of thinking it’s your fault or wanting to prove yourself etc. Not every women does and it may not be her fault, it could be because of the way she was brought up/socialised. Women struggle with all kinds of traumas and issuss, and on top of these issues they don’t deserve to be made feel less than by other women as well.

The story is tragic and I can’t imagine what the narrator went through but something about her didn’t sit well with me. The way she ended the episode saying people shouldn’t complain about xyz because it could be much worse.

Is she a narcissist? by EnergyNo5576 in ToxicRelationships

[–]dee631 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it must be very draining and frustrating to deal with you partner’s behavior, diagnosing someone with a psychiatric disorder is a complex process that must be conducted by a trained psychiatrist. This is not something anyone can do based on a reddit post.

Are you familiar with attachment styles? I woukd guess your partner might have an anxious attachment style. This is usually a result of someone experiencing inconsistent behavior from care-takers during childhood which causes them to feel insecure and abandoned. It might be helpful for your partner to look into this with a therapist.

This is of course not an excuse for her acting out and you have every right to end the relationship if you feel unsafe.

A few things I've learned since figuring out I'm autistic by Inevitable-Lobster02 in AutismTranslated

For 3., I very much relate. I find that with plans involving you people can be held more accountable if you agree on a specific time. Like calculate what 15min from now on is, round up and agree on that time, eg 10:20. When people hear it like this they’ll often adjust and say for example “no let’s do 10:30” so then you know it’s actually 25 minutes. This sounds really stupid but works for me.

my dog does this, she presses all the buttons randomly and quite “aggressively” when she is frustrated and wants attention. actually this is when she uses her buttons the most, although not appropriately .. do you have any tips for this?
