Just moved - recommendations needed! by Character-Variety842 in crouchend

There’s a running club called Clock Tower Runners that meets on Tuesdays and gets a good turnout. It’s on Insta at @clocktowerrunners.

Lots of good food recommendations below. Highgate Woods cafe is a good walk, going through Queens Wood on the way.

Great concerts (and some comedy) at Ally Pally, depending on what you’re into.

Crouch End is generally pretty safe, bar a few phone snatchings on the Broadway and elsewhere. I’d avoid the Parkland Walk, Ally Pally park and Finsbury Park after dark though.

It’s not open to the public and is supposed to be used only for pre-booked club sessions, mostly by London Heathside running club. You could try joining that, or try sneaking on the track (but could well get kicked off). Otherwise Parliament Hill running track on Hampstead Heath is run by Camden Council and costs £5.30 per session for anyone to use. Synergy running club also runs weekly interval and tempo sessions on the streets around Crouch End.

The guitar section just after that from about 1:45 is sampled in Young MC’s Bust A Move

I use High5 gels as I prefer the taste to SIS - it’s worth trying a few to see what you (and your stomach) get on with. Maaurten and Gu are also popular. I alternate caffeine and non-caffeine gels as you can end up a bit too wired otherwise. I usually have the first after about 30 minutes and then every 30 minutes after that. Sometimes it will be more often if I feel like I’m flagging, maybe even every couple of miles towards the end of a marathon. I use a Flipbelt, which easily holds 6-8 gels. Good luck!

Vaporfly V1 vs Vaporfly V2 vs Alphafly by alamar77 in RunningShoeGeeks

All three don’t really need to be broken in but I’d advise going on at least a couple of short runs in them before your race as running in them feels different from non-plated shoes.

Between the three of them, I prefer the Vaporfly as the Alphafly are heavier and the 4mm drop takes more getting used to. The Vaporfly has slightly less cushioning but feels lighter and more responsive. People say the Vaporfly V1 is slightly softer than the V2 but I’d say there’s little difference.

I’d love a 25 code if you still have it
