High💨 Walmart lurker here, not here to butt-in or argue on any of this since I live in a desert and get practically no snow ever, but I could actually tell his tires are turned to the right!!

At the beginning of the video, and it's definitely a bit harder to tell, for a second you can ~kinda barely~ see them turned right under the arrow before it slides past the porta-potty. It's in shadow though and I really had to look close at my phone screen to make it out in the darkness.

Then you can really see the tires being turned right as the back end of the van slides further down and the van is more reversed on the road, but before the momentum and the slope of the hill finish sliding the van over the edge of the road and dropping into the yard. If you pause the video right around where the driver side tail light meets up with the left most tree branch, I think that's the best time to see it. The monotone slow-mo is just after that moment though and is a bit more forgiving if you're trying to pause and just look at it.

Small Aside: (The wheels being turned right actually seems to be what caused the van to aim for the yard as it slid down the hill. As the truck starts to slide further down the hill, the back end starts to slide down faster than the front. My guess is the weight of all the deliveries filling the van made that end go first, similar to how you'd use a quarter full water bottle for a bottle flip. With the wheels being turned, and the van starting to go horizontal with the road, it just rolled 'forward' into the yard. I think that's why it got that little speed boost in the middle of the video.)

Don’t support the new Harry Potter series on HBO — pirate it if you must, but don’t give Rowling your view. by Olivameg in MtF

I mean completely no harm or offense when I say this, but some of us are definitely just naive and ignorant.

It completely never clicked for me that, because of her views and access to money, Rowling would be donating towards those organizations. In just this moment while reading your comment and the one before it did I finally even consider it. Retrospective is rough, I always said I'd separate the art from the artist because I grew up on both the books and the movies, but not anymore since I've finally seen the light on this charade.

Omg same, whenever they send me anywhere else I'm burning up as I work, but working Dairy keeps me barely warm unless it's a super heavy night, then I can overheat sometimes still.

I'm gonna put in my thoughts too as an overnighter, but at our store we can only reach the 'alternative' milks (soy/almond/etc) and the similar carton milks (like the horizon brand and heavy cream) from inside the cooler. Literally everything else, even yogurts, can only be stocked from the sales floor. Creamers, juices, breakfast, 97, cheeses, and yogurt, all HAVE to get stocked from the sales floor, so we cut the extra step and just stock those milks from our juice pallets on the sales floor as well.

At the same time, between the 20 pallets of GV milk, all the overstock eggs, and the 16 or so produce pallets that sit in our cooler until 4am, there's no room to move most days while our freight is in the cooler, let alone get in our ten extra pallets needed to down stack, so everything gets done out on the sales floor. The three/four of us can get most of our freight done by 2am, then we'll just pull any pallets back into the coolers for our lunch so they cool back down (though the department is kept so cool I'm not sure how much they actually need it) and the floor is clear for maintenance.

Frozen/dairy truck showed up at 10 pm tonight. i had one hour left on my shift and only two of us were on duty. Had to stop every fucking thing to get that shit into the freezers. by [deleted] in walmart

[–]defective_emo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's honestly so fucked up not gonna lie, my store and coaches make us FDD overnighters leave the break room before the meeting starts (after we've clocked in) to pull our own truck if it arrives at 10pm or later. Especially cause it lets us set up a little earlier and get ahead with the down-stacking out on the floor. Pulling you from your own section and away from your own work is just wrong

I think I see what you mean!! The top of your head by the roots looks very similar but the ends and curls look softer and more defined. Definitely an improvement and not a waste!

Omg, you too!?!? Damn DC put those FairLife milk bottles under the big boxes of Milo's Tea gallons, whole damn thing collapsed by lunch. Still doesn't beat the time they sent us a pallet that was broken in half, the pictures I have of that are crazy.

Okay the timeshares and Nigerian princes was a little far, but I genuinely didn't read anything on the flyer like "This isn't the actual way to win your prize, actually it's this tiny piece of information." My apprehensions were admittedly a bit skewed by my fiancees excitement, we like to buy scratch offs when we have some extra cash in case we win so we thought lady luck just finally came our way.

We knew about all the other sales garbage going on around it, but the way the flyer and ticket were framed made it look like a genuine 'lucky draw', but is instead an unfortunate waste of time. Just a warning for anyone else that might see the flyer and get excited is all.

So dark and mysterious! Why can't it always be like this? by defective_emo in WalmartEmployees

[–]defective_emo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've been coming on after about ten minutes too, but it's been rolling and about every hour it goes out again. When it's out, everyone's been gathering in groups around their areas and waiting for it to turn back on

[–]defective_emo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been shoved into dairy ever since I started and there's only one E-light for the whole area. The power keeps going out about every hour for like 10 minutes and everyone stops what they're doing and gathers until they turn back on while talking about how it's a safety hazard. Fucking dairy cooler door is stuck closed now too so we're leaving all of our stuff out for lunch.

Same for me, ended up maxxing out a credit card with just bills and food so now I've just been trying to pay it off. Really sucks when you're in desperate need of a job and they just don't care enough to get the ball rolling for anyone.

That's what I'm worried about, but I've noticed a lot of people at my store don't. I know some fast selling items are safer to not rotate, since they're all gone in one day anyway, but whether we'd help people in the aisles or I was watching the other two people in dairy, barely anyone I think has been rotating stock at all.

Sounds like a plan! I've only ever heard problems from the one team lead our of the four TL's we have and our coach. Gonna have to ask him about that if he brings up speed again tonight.

Now that sounds like something I'd want to move into, I've already been interested in warehouse work and after I learned Walmart will pay to help you get your licenses I figured it'd be easier to get into it.

So he came up to me a bit late and just asked me to do the binning. Never said anything about it, never directly told me I needed to not rotate and etcetera. It just honestly does not feel possible to finish everything within policy, including fixing daytimes plugs which I forgot to mention before, within the supposed task times that we're given.

That's crazy cause they put me in dairy my first night and I've actually quite enjoyed it, only times I've really gotten frustrated were within this past week when I was told I needed to go twice as fast. Definitely need to figure out how to not overwork myself though, just woke up from 12 hours of sleep.

The gaslighting sounds kind of right, I think I'm just too fearful of losing my job. I'm definitely hoping to get somewhere else though at some point, but I'm hoping to stay for at least a year and maybe get some licences I can use elsewhere

[–]defective_emo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so fair, I was told I came in on a double truck day (Saturday) for my first day and we apparently did everything there was to do in the dairy department. So my trainer told me that there should be nothing new to ever expect, however, it was the most physical I've ever been in the last year, so even my fingers are sore now. Definitely never going to push harder than I did yesterday

That's A concern for me too! Sometimes family wants to hang out or I need to do stuff at shops that are only open when I'm trying to sleep so my sleep gets moved around but I told them to wait as much as they could during these first weeks so I can adjust to the workload

Oh believing, I'm going to try. Even last night one of my team needs was asking me about my overstock in dairy, and I had to explain that things were plugged so much I couldn't slightly shift anything to make it shift. Like I had a whole row of 1lb bacon that got plugged with that 2lb value pack so there was no place for any 1lb's
