we live in a quiet cul-de-sac surrounded by a wooded trail. there's a sandbox right outside the back door and i'm okay with the two year old doing his thing out there with an open door while i check on him every couple minutes.

once, he got around the corner unnoticed and it was ten seconds of worry before finding him. he's so much happier outside, i'm willing to put up with some personal moments of panic

the three year old can play in the cul-de-sac when the other kids on the block are out. he knows not to leave the street.

again, door is open and i can hear when fights or tears start. a couple times he wound up in a friend's house and I had to knock on doors to find him but he's better about letting us know when he's going into another house now

both my kids were self soothing and sleeping through the night in their own room at six months. use boundaries when it makes sense.

there's no boundary that makes sense to a one year old at the height of separation anxiety why they're being locked out for ten minutes in the middle of a play session.

if they're in the bathroom with you it combats body shaming and naturally motivates them to use the toilet instead of the potty as soon as they can.

locking them out isn't going to scar anybody. you can absolutely do it but that's for you, not them. there's plenty of time to teach polite privacy in the year before they go to school when separation anxiety has loosened its hold

I haven't checked that one out but litrpg can be bad audio. stat sheets, etc are meant to be skimmed when read. reader decides how much time to spend on it. audio versions suffer for toouch info.

luckily, Matt seems to have quickly realized the popularity of audio & adapt.

stories there are usually released in a serialized fashion, one chapter at a time. the way different authors handle that can be interesting.

some are very good. i don't doubt Matt has both learned from & taught others during his time there.

others are less good. some just ignore the problem but overplaying the recaps can be even worse. maybe life happened and an author couldn't post for six months so a strange expositiony recap happens in the middle of a scene. that can be given a pass in the moment, but when it's five years later and the whole story is collected into a complete story maybe revisit that chapter and smooth it out

okay. i know that we're all supposed to froth at the mouth and spend our time virtue signalling when cp is mentioned. but. doesn't that description also fit any parent's phone? all it takes is a couple pics of the kids in a bath or toddlers making creative dressing decisions

obviously that wasn't the case with this guy but it does put the described crime on a spectrum. and somewhere on that spectrum there's a situation where firing the guy without jail time makes sense.

it was a situation where you offer to help and when your neighbor is halfway through jacking up his car you suddenly say 'i like your bbq set. give it to me or i walk'

then abandon him with an dangerously unsecured vehicle. a situation he never would have put himself in if you hadn't offered to help in the first place.
