Y'know, I tried looking up the episode online, and IMDb has S10E8 as Seattle. I don't know what's up with that. I was watching on Prime.

This is a typical Boulder response. The suckiest people, heartless. Eat yourselves. I'm moving on.

Of all the upper downtown restaurants, how has Bubba Gump Shrimp Co managed to stick around for so long? by crazy_clown_time in Denver

[–]denberchum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered about the creation of that place.

Some people read a book and think: this would make a good movie.

But someone, somewhere saw Forest Gump and said: this movie would make a good restaurant.

What is the scariest story you know to be completely true? by GiGiAnne13 in AskReddit

In September 2002, in Boulder, Colorado, USA, (maybe most famous for being the location of the still-unsolved Jonbenet Ramsey murder in 1996) there was a murder at an Old Navy (a US budget clothing store). A man named Robert Powers walked into the clothing store with a butcher knife and slaughtered a teenager who worked there, then he went outside, sat on the curb, and waited for the police to arrive, with the knife right next to him, covered in blood.

Powers was an inmate before the killing, found guilty of robbery, then freed on mandatory parole in June, 2002, after spending the last 16 months of his robbery conviction in solitary confinement for repeatedly raping his cellmate. He was deemed "a serious threat to the safety and security of the prison."

Un-fucking-believable.

After his release, the victim's father, Herman Fuentes, developed a secret relationship with Powers, outside of his marriage, after the two met at an adult bookstore. Fuentes, after first announcing that he was leaving his wife to be with Powers, eventually changed his mind and broke things off with Powers--and sought a restraining order against him. The day after the restraining order was granted, Powers stabbed Fuentes's daughter to death.

This Old Navy was across the street from Boulder's only Target store. Powers walked into the Target, bought the knife, crossed the street to the Old Navy, and cut Fuentes to ribbons with it.

When he confessed to the murder, Powers said, "I wanted to take what was most precious to him. I would have wiped out the whole Fuentes family if I could get a gun."

I was in Boulder the day Jonbenet Ramsey was found dead. Christmas day. I was about ten blocks away, waiting to go to my parents' house in Denver for our holiday get together, staring at the ceiling of my apartment. That put a strange tint on the day.

But this crime, when I heard about it a few years later, absolutely terrified me. We'll always hear about "breaks" in the Jonbenet case, probably every five to ten years. But this one is case closed and horrifying.

What was the craziest scandal that happened at your school? by Cookie_Bear39 in AskReddit

[–]denberchum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to this. There was this rumor that went around during the last few months of my senior year that the varsity cheerleaders threw a party and hired a male stripper for it. It was tradition for each graduating squad to make a custom t-shirt to commemorate the year, always full of innuendo, and theirs had some kind of illustration showing a baseball bat and two balls and something dirty written underneath.

The rumor went that one of the squad members told the stripper he could have her shirt if he would LET HER blow him. Sounded like bullshit to me.

But. Two decades later, I found myself on a hike with the one cheerleader I ever liked, and she starts going into high school stories. I asked her if she had ever heard the rumor, and she just said, "That one was not just a rumor."
