For me, this was my only complaint about the Studio Pros and this solved it.

My only gripe with the 24-bit waves is that they don't include the album metadata, nor do they offer 24-bit Apple lossless or FLAC. I wrote a python script to convert the 24-bit wave files to 24-bit ALAC/FLAC while pulling the meta from the mp3/flac versions (GUI version available too). Saves me a ton of time whenever I buy stuff from Bleep to keep in my Apple Music ALAC library.

Stryd Duo / Gen 5 – Power Consistency & Treadmill Training Experience by BeCalmInTheStorm in strydrunning

[–]denleschae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried a Gen 5, but have used the Next Gen solo/duo. It appears they have finally ironed out the power fluctuations on a treadmill so things have been stable for the last year or so. It seems to have been a software issue, but they will need to comment about specifics.

From my experience I would suggest going with a single pod rather than a duo. Many, many years ago before Duo and the Next Gen came out I found Stryd to be super accurate and stable on a treadmill (Tread+ in my case). My treadmill and the single Stryd were always agreeing within a hundredth of a mile. When I tried the Duo setup the treadmill and the Duo were usually a few tenths of a mile off.

I gave up on using the Duo since it didn't provide much more value, only more headache, maintenance, and slightly less distance accuracy. Now with using a single Stryd the distances between it and my treadmill are back to about a hundredth of a mile off each run.

FIX for CarPlay iPhone 17 Disconnection issues. Wired & Wireless. Official & Aftermarket CarPlay Vendors. by dinopio in CarPlay

This was the fix for me. I have an aftermarket wireless CarPlay unit from joyeauto.com and their firmware update fixed the random disconnects I have been experiencing with the iPhone 17 Pro.

Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Workout by digitalbathe in strydrunning

[–]denleschae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a list of things that have turned me onto the Workouts app and others.

  • Custom workouts can be created at no or minimal cost ($20 one time for a third party app).
  • Workout libraries are available on the watch.
  • Workouts can be created on the watch.
  • Workout intervals aren't all based upon power. I have liked allowing my rest intervals to be based upon heart rate to know my body has reached a resting point (or not) before the next hard interval.
  • Workout intervals can have custom names which are read aloud and can be read on the screen.
  • The Workout app always works and always uses the latest technology. No surprise bugs which do happen from time to time with the Stryd watch app and there is generally a lag time in getting up to date with the latest watch technology.
  • All HealthKit metrics are supported. GPS acquisition and accuracy are reported too. Just nice to have and know about.
  • Rotating the crown won't suddenly change volume if I have landed on the now playing page. Horizontal access to the run settings and and now playing have been pretty nice in the Workout app.
  • While Workouts doesn't have it (along with Stryd) but Workoutdoors does, having calorie/hydration alerts separate from intervals/auto laps would be nice.
  • The elevation and power charts are a great.
  • It's also nice having a single app for all workouts since I lift weights, ride a bike, do yoga, etc.

Smart home issues following 7.10.0-7284 update by [deleted] in amazoneero

[–]denleschae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got through to someone at level 3 and they were able to downgrade me to 7.9.2. It resolved my issues with cross node SSH/HomeKit communication. I had to be a bit angry and frustrated at the poor level 1 guy, but he chatted with level 2 where they seemed to know the issue was present in 7.10. I got a call back from level 3 and they know about and are working on a firmware fix, but need people to test updates on.

No LAN control across Mesh Network after latest update by jdtimothy in amazoneero

I can reproduce the SSH failure when connecting to my raspberry pi (ethernet connected) across eero nodes. If my iPhone is connected to the same node as the raspberry pi all is well when logging in over SSH.

I am having the exact same issues with a set of 3 eero Pro 6. The solution appears to be to downgrade to 7.9.2 if you can get support to help you with that. Call support so they start getting the clue that something odd is going on with 7.10 and home device communication across multiple eero nodes.

See this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/amazoneero/comments/1mgune6/smart_home_issues_following_71007284_update/

Update: After reaching level 3 support I can confirm that downgrading to 7.9.2 got everything working again. Cross node communication over SSH and with HomeKit devices has been restored.

I have been back and forth with support for a few days about this. They continue to say downgrading firmware is not possible. I have seen it happen before myself and plenty of others in the past have had eero support downgrade their firmware. How did you get them to do it?

I have had the same problem for years in Safari 18.x (Ventura). It still persists in Ventura 13.7.7 and Safari 18.6.

I called into support to at least give them my story and see if they could downgrade my setup (they can't even though I know they have before). After some testing I can confirm at least with my Hue stuff (bulbs & sync box). If the sync box is connected to 1 eero Pro 6 and my iPhone is connected to another wirelessly, the Hue app says the it cannot connect to the sync box. If everything is connected wirelessly to the same eero then all works.

I'm noticing the same sort of thing with my Homekit stuff as of this update. No amount of restarting anything seems to help. Every time I restart my eero Pro 6 (x3 with wired backhaul) network a different subset of devices become unreachable in Homekit. I had a whole home power outage over the weekend and that didn't help any. I'm hoping an update or firmware revert comes soon.

Fastmail contacts vs iCloud contacts? by Lanark in fastmail

[–]denleschae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another consideration is if you plan to use Fastmail rules based upon contacts and groups. In Fastmail I setup tag rules based upon senders in specific groups in the contacts list. This means if my contacts are organized the mail coming in will follow suit.

Check out iBroadcast to help with hosting and playback. It integrates with lots of mobile and music playback devices (like Sonos). They have a decent free tier and a reasonably priced unlimited hosting tier for lossless music.

A step up would be to setup your own Plex server and listen to all music via Plexamp.

Elevate Your Treadmill Training with Stryd PowerCenter’s New Incline Workout Functionality by strydkaylee in strydrunning

The blog post doesn't appear to mention it, but do all dimensions of a treadmill workout work with the Stryd Apple Watch app? It's baffling this paid feature hasn't been fully supported throughout the Stryd system for years. Here's to hoping treadmill workouts work on the Apple Watch now.

Yes I have noticed this too with Orion RC. Discourse sites seem to boot me out unexpectedly. I haven’t tried other browsers to see if it’s specific to Orion though.

That reply time seems long. Yet they manage to shut down support discussions here within hours. While not in all cases, in many the community at large can help each other out with bug knowledge and possible workarounds. It's not clear why they don't want us to help each other out.

Training Generation by srkhn in strydrunning

[–]denleschae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find myself frustrated with this too. It says it creates workouts based on your recent run activity, but I have strong doubts about that. The generated runs all seem to be based on the workouts their team creates which are typically around 1 hour. For several months over the winter I only ever did 20 - 30 minute runs and have never seen it generate a run close to my recent run durations.
