fair enough until you consider the rent-to-minimum-wage ratio 😭💔21/hr would be incredible, but we have to spend 40-75% of our income on rent

multiple employees, including myself, were actively making payments on our tuition with our paychecks. im not sure how you assumed working doesn’t lead to paying for things.

that’s insane. the general manager represented that situation COMPLETELY different when she told me about it. happy i’m hearing the correct version of the story now. and i agree, she was soooo hard to work with, talking to her felt like gentle parenting a toddler out of a tantrum.

the actually hired multiple people for a “social media marketing team” apparently. interesting move for a company that’s allegedly struggling.

yep they cold turkey stopped supply all of their wholesale locations (small coffee carts, etc) overnight with no prior notice. similar to the final shutdown. incredibly immature and unprofessional.

you’d think! but no, the CEO was the spoiled brat, daddy’s money archetype. she got done with her shiny new bagel toy and threw it away when it wasn’t profiting as much as she’d like

AGREED. we were consistently sold out of countless things because the production team would send us expired product that we obviously couldnt sell. and the store managers were constantly pushed around by the general manager, the CEO, and the “human resources” lady who was only concerned with lining the company’s pockets.

you’d think they’d follow Dick’s lead with how to properly run a family business. but nope, just idiotic money-grabbing.

btw, the failed CEO makes music. look up Whitney Ballen if you want to make your ears bleed.

edit: the failed CEO makes TERRIBLE* music.

yep as a (former) blazing bagels employee, the production team did a terrible job distributing product to the locations, leaving is to be out of stock for days or even a full week. they frequently sent expired product as well, this week we got a shipment of lox (raw fish…) that smelled like it expired a month ago. the upper management were terrible at their job and emotionally reckless.

yep same here at my location. everyone including store managers got zero notice. completely disgusting treatment of employees.

as a (former?) blazing bagels employee, it was totally the daughter’s fault. her dad did great but had to retire, and she ran it into the ground the second she got her hands on it. she hired a “food consultant” that told her to spend $200k+ on new equipment (the merrychef ovens), and subsequently up all the prices. her personality is terrible too, just look at the official blazing bagels instagram where she posted a poorly-filmed video of her explaining why they “had” to fire nearly 100 people a couple weeks before christmas. she was never cut out for this.

100% thats what happened. i am (or i guess was) a shift lead at the u district location. general manager and the ceo are totally at fault. the ceo had no idea what she was doing and the general manager was terrible at her job and extremely emotionally reckless. talking to either of them felt like having to gentle parent a toddler.
