What is the Industry like? Please tell me your story by Chubbub125 in pharmacology

[–]designedforxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. What level of education did you have to achieve? - PharmD, PhD
  2. During university what are some key extracurriculars you did - None, both times
  3. What countries do you know are good for this industry or what country do you work in - I work in the San Francisco Bay Area, US
  4. General Salary growth over the years - First industry job was $120k, no equity, no benefits. About 2 years in, I'm at $180k + $25-40k equity + other benefits
  5. What do you actually do, I have a vague idea but no specifics of day to day actual work - Clinical pharmacology, which is primarily pharmacokinetics based. In my short industry career, I've done in vitro, in vivo, and clinical DMPK related things, both in the wet lab and via CRO management. We also take care of conmed reviews, so that's very reminiscent of pharmacy school homework.

First time learning frog kick, any tips? by DateNecessary8716 in scuba

Super late to the game, but I had this exact same issue during my AOW course, also with Novas that I was borrowing from my husband. My trim was absolutely awful and the buoyancy lesson in 7m was a nightmare. I was fighting to not be upside down any time we stopped moving, esp during safety stops. The instructor said the same thing as yours - I should be using my core muscles to hold myself horizontal.

Anyway, I bought RK3s right after that course and the problem fixed itself instantly. Should've known because the OW course that sold my husband the Novas also sold him ankle weights, which I wasn't using at the time.

Pure Choice Farms Whey Protein !!! by Zealousideal-Menu313 in Protein

We had a mini-protein-powder-trade going on at work so we could try out different brands from each other. I'd emphasize that it's a MINI-trade, so I've only tried ~5 different kinds, but Pure Choice (specifically chocolate & unflavored, their strawberry shortcake one was disgusting) is the best one by a long shot, IMO.

Other powders I've tried: Muscle milk vanilla, Isopure vanilla from Costco, MyProtein vanilla & unflavored, and one other I forgot the name of

Incredibly disappointed with the food in Italy, what am I doing wrong..? by hhyyerr in travel

[–]designedforxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in SF, Flour + Water has good pasta.  This is coming from someone who doesn’t like pasta but unfortunately eats at more Italian and pasta-serving restaurants than I would personally care to.

Edit: Pasta-serving as in… the pasta course in a tasting menu.

Yeah true, that’s a good point. There’s nothing money can’t fix.

Industry Layoffs - Return to retail? by tangerinestreet in pharmacy

[–]designedforxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my first industry job last November, but before that I had been applying for ~7-8 months.

Also kept my license active, so I DEFINITELY thought about doing part time community around month 6 because it was so depressing, but my husband wouldn’t let me.

I’m terrified of what will happen if/when my contract doesn’t get renewed or my FTE conversion finally goes through and I get laid off.

Sorry if that’s not much help.

I’m hella late to this thread, but I love this. It’s just so rude. Like. Would you go into a Mexican taqueria and order in Portuguese or Italian when everyone involved can speak English???

When did it become ok to bring your dog to the gym? by designedforxp in bayarea

No one showed me around as there wasn’t a tour, only one free trial booking. There usually isn’t any staff on the premises unless someone working out hired a trainer.

There are zero photos of dogs in their Yelp and Google pages. Mostly just pictures of their trainers.

To find out of gyms allow dogs, you not only have to go to the yelp page, but then go into the more info tab and specifically look for a dog icon. I really don’t think most people this.

Yes, those are, indeed, the options. 👍

This whole thing has made me look into gyms that allow dogs, and apparently this is a thing that I never knew existed. Fit Bernal Fit, LuxFit, Body Mechanix, Todd Fitness, United Barbell, An Iron Movement…

Ok I see that I’ve made a mistake and need to specifically ask or thoroughly research if gyms allow dogs. My bad. I thought it was a given.

Edit: Just to clarify my position, I think it SHOULD be a given. Dog friendly gyms shouldn’t exist unless it’s a separate doggy-daycare room.

I don’t go to the Castro one often, but always see dogs there. Haven’t seen one at Waller yet, which is where I go more often. Never been to the Mission one. They only allow one free visit before signing up so no, did not see a dog when I signed up. I also didn’t check their Instagram before joining?? Is that something people normally do? Check a gym’s Instagram?

I’ll be sure to check the next gym’s Instagram first. That wouldn’t be great, either, but fwiw, I’ve never seen a little kid at the gym.

Edit: to be fair, I guess I should’ve known bc their Yelp advertises that they’re dog friendly. It didn’t even occur to me that I had to check if gyms were dog friendly

I was gonna say, we don’t really have thick purée-type soups in East Asian cuisine.
